Well I went to the grocery store because I didn't have raisins, I didn't actually bake the oatmeal cookies until I got home

I have decided that I need to get another pair of bifocal cheaters to keep next to the bed.  Last night I was reading one of those home product catalogs that will begin to arrive in mass over the next five months.  In the linen section, I could have sworn that it said they were selling Self-touch sheets.

Whoops!  Soft-touch.

I then made her a copy of the Schmidt and Jones song she'll be doing - the decidedly weird but very tuneful and fun Postcards - recorded for Unsung Musicals with Crista Moore doing the vocal.  I love the tune, and Tom's lyrics are truly weird.

COOKIES.

Listened to another local band at Bernadette's.  Of course had 2 chocolate and raspberry croissants.

Sitting in the sun, it's just plain wonderful.    ;)

I've had two friends perish from ALS--a horrible, horrible disease and one that needs to be cured ASAP.
I agree. I wrote about my former co-worker, Rich Brooks, who died earlier this year. And I always think of Michael Zaslow, who was once on "Guiding Light" and they fired him because he had it.

And there was that baseball player.  What was his name?

I feel guilty this made me chuckle.

I am working tomorrow and Tuesday. Then other than one hearing on Thursday morning, I'm taking the rest of the week off.  I plan to clean the house from top to bottom, go through my clothes and give a bunch of them to goodwill.  In part I'm doing it for the party, but more than that, I'm going to start my 50th year in a clean organized house.   It's my gift to myself.

Oh, and I baked oatmeal cookies.

Now I want a cookie!

Me too.

I've been thinking of oatmeal cookies since Skip posted photos of some on Facebook a couple days ago.  I told my mom I was thinking about making them and she said "Oh, I just baked some yesterday".   I gave in and made them

Cilla, I wish you would come over and clean my house.  I haven't been able to do anything in so many weeks, it is horrible.  When the sun was shining in today and I saw all that dust; I felt like Miss Havisham!

TCB, I wish I could too.

Actually, I'm a horrible housekeeper.  I paint the garage, but I don't dust.  So, really cleaning the house is a real gift to myself.  I have decided once I get it really cleaned, I'm going to look into someone coming in once a month to clean.

Cillaliz, I began quite a frenzy after finding those episodes of "Hoarders" on the computer. I got rid of a lot of stuff, but then my back was hurting too much to continue.

I watched three or four episodes of Hoarders this weekend, lol.

We've had a nice dinner in the dining room that reminded us of Miami University's 1809 Room and we're now crashing for the night.  We're too tired and it's too hot for an outdoor performance of AS YOU LIKE IT.

I did AS YOU LIKE IT at the Seattle Center several summers ago.  I got the best review I had ever received from a Seattle newspaper.  They said, "TCB is an amazing find!"  I had only been acting about forty-some years at that point, but I accepted the review gracefully.

You were probably the oldest Rosalind since Dame Edith Evans played the role in the 1920s!
Now, girls!  ;D

I love that song, especially the mention of them as "postal cards."

Cillaliz, I think you should share the cookies. You've got us all hungry now.

One of my firends is insisting that we have drinks with friends on Tuesday since that's my birthday.  I finally emailed her and said no.  I mean seriously I don't see the point when I'm having a party on saturday.  She's invited. She just has this thing in her head that it's "the day" so I have to celebrate with drinks.  That's her thing not mine.

I really don't want to do anything special that day.  I want to do whatever I want to do.  I may go to a movie, I may go to dinner, I may do a lot of things, but I don't want to be expected to be anywhere.  That sounds like a wonderful day to me.
