Perhaps the rain has caused havoc with our host?

Sorry to read about DS Craig. Not great news this time of year. Or any time of year.

Today I found a dead hawk at the water basins where the hunter was Monday, and now the rangers are very interested in my photos.
Sounds like the start of a good thriller. Sorry to hear about the hawk though.

They are federally protected. Sadly, the other three dead birds I found are not.

That could be it. Do you know "physically" where your host is situated? Some of the news footage about the flooding in SoCal has been quite, well.. wet.

I think they are somewhere in the west San Fernando Valley - maybe Woodland Hills?

The book room is completely clean and organized.  The living room, the same.  Now it's the den and some odds and ends here and there.

I have to make a batch of my shrimp dip to take to my sister's house on Christmas Day.  But I have to keep reminding myself that Christmas is on Saturday, and not on Friday!

Today I made cookie recipe #3 - gingerbread - and it's not on my diet, either.  Oh, well, my family will enjoy my efforts...

Thank you.  He did tell us before he returned home.  I hope he get this job I know he would excel at.  He was told they have 100 good applicants and are only interviewing 18 of them.  Out of the 18 he is the only one from out of state (Washington).

Yum, sounds good.  Craig helped with the mixing of my cake as my shoulder tired.  He never uses a mixers so it was interesting.  I finally had to begin giving him instructions. ;D

Now I need to make the citrus  topping, which I shall serve on the side.

From Jose:
Quote
DR Jane - Make sure that your DS Craig tells the gate agents that it's his birthday. He may get an upgrade. Or at least an extra bag of peanuts or cookies! At the very least, the full can of Coke!

Craig returned safely home from Olympic last night, happy to be home and very pleased with his interview.

Bryan is on his way to Salt Lake City & then, if all goes well, to Medford and us.  The airlines never did anything special for Bryan on his birthday in the good old days of flying so I doubt they would give him anything at all today ;D

I don't think Craig considered flying to Romania.  His wife doesn't want to live in the States anymore  and wants to stay in Romania.  Craig wont live there again.

They are going to need one Hell of a large apartment!

:) That might have worked, instead they will be getting divorced.  Craig needs to know what state he will be living in to fill in the paperwork.  This has been very hard on him.

Jane, how long were they married?  Did she become a US citizen?  I wouldn't imply that this is the case, but I've read where some foreign women have married American men just to become citizens, then they get divorced. :-\

Thank you Ben.  They were together almost six years & seemed very much in love.  I'm glad now there weren't grand children.

DR Jane - I'd been wondering about Craig's wife ever since you started talking about his trek west a few weeks ago and hoped against hope that this would not be the next we heard about her.

George I unknowingly answered part of your question.  They met in her home town while Craig was in the Peace Corps.  Her goal wasn't to come to America.  She came to be with Craig.  They married when they did so they would not have to be separated when her visa expired and she has a green card.  Had they had the money for a nice wedding they probably would have gotten married sooner.

I am very sorry to hear about Craig and his wife.  I guess I didn't realize that she had returned to Romania.

I didn't either. The way it was written I thought I had missed something.
