Ricky was climbing the shelves in my closet and clothes were strewn on the floor, so he wasn't totally innocent

Yogi has always had allergy problems so I insisted on taking him to the vet today (Craig did go with us of course).  Blood work has been done to find out what he is allergic to.   He also licks his paws until there is a large puddle of "water" under his feet.  The vet swabbed the area and found a yeast infection.  Yogi now has special wipes for his feet & meds twice a day.  Since Craig can't keep Yogi still long enough to trim his toe nails we also had that done.

I have just ordered 2 tickets for RISE, the documentary film about the 1961 US figure skating team that died in a plane crash on their way to the world championships.  One of the tickets is a Christmas present for my mother, who made it clear that all she wants for Christmas is more time with me than she's had in the past several months.

Thank you for telling us about that, Ginny.  I hadn't heard anything about it.

Speaking of chocolates, I received a very nice box of Teuscher champagne truffles from our Canadian producer. I think these are about the best chocolates I've ever had. It took an act of sheer will power to share them with friends when they came over. Yummy!

Oh!  My!  God!  Aren't they heaven on earth?

So today, our HR manager sent out this e-mail:

To All:

New Year's Eve Early Closure – The Library Director has indicated that libraries and the Service Center will close at 6:00PM on Friday, 12/31/2010. 

This is not paid holiday time so staff who are regularly scheduled to work beyond 6:00PM that evening will need to use vacation time or coordinate with their supervisor to adjust their schedule.

Have a safe holiday!

And then a little later, someone from one of the branches sent this e-mail:

We'll have no problem getting everyone out by 6:00, since all library branches close by 5:00 on Fridays. =)

Why isn't that a holiday for you?  New Year's Day is a national holiday, and since it falls on a Saturday, Friday becomes the paid holiday.

You're welcome, DR TCB.  They were promoting it pretty heavily during the broadcasts of some competitive skating several weeks ago.  It probably doesn't sound like such a festive Christmas present for my mother, but that event occurred about the time I started following skating on TV and my mom and I watched a lot of it together.  I don't think it will be as depressing as it sounds.

DR Ben just telephoned me. He will E&T for the next couple of days. He is being admitted to Beth Israel Hospital for appendicitis.

The appendix is too inflamed to be removed so the doctors are treating it with large doses of antibiotics. In January they will assess the next step. We spoke very briefly and he is waiting for a room. I will talk to him tomorrow once he's settled. He expects to be in through Thursday or Friday.

Okay, so BK's been talking about packages from Amazon.fr (France) not being delivered...well, I was trying to reconcile the library's credit card statement and the one item that I ordered from Amazon.fr was cancelled as undeliverable!  I got the notice last month, but since I don't read French, I didn't look at it. It wasn't until I saw the amount credited back on the credit card statement that I looked through my work e-mails and translated it on Yahoo's Babel Fish.

The order was only for one (1) copy and fortunately there aren't any requests...but still, what's that all about??
