Earlier today mom kept feeding the cat, because it is Thanksgiving and all so she kept feeding her and she kept eating and eating.  Then the cat went into the den, jumped up on my dad, looked right at his face and barfed all over his shirt.   I guess he let out a shriek mom could hear from the other side of the house...LOL, that one really cracked me up
That's funny.

Great dinner, except my roasted root vegetables wouldn't cook. They were in the oven forever and they remain al dente. Not what you want with beets, parsnips and turnips, among other veges. But the style was good, and I may try it again soon. It also had pecans, celery and dried apricots in the mix

I called Steven LaBrie, who has asked to be released from the January recording sessions for personal reasons. So, I need to find a new baritone by Dec 1. I think I'll call Patrick Carfizzi first and see what his schedule looks like; if he's out, I'll call Kelly Markgraf. After that, I'll ask our pianist William Hicks for recommendations, but i'm hoping Patrick can do it.

I have the digital "Stage & Screen" music channel on and they're playing the title track from the soundtrack to "Taras Bulba." :)

Made it to work on time (4:52am).   Took a nap when I got home at 2.  Then made a BIG pot of soup.
Fresh rosemary, tarragon, carrots, zucchini, olive oil, yellow lentils, extra extra lean ground turkey, and water. yum.

My neighbors invited me over but I was just too pooped to party.  So now I'm here and going to sleep early.   Boy, I would never have said that if I was in my 20 or 30's.

I do think I'm getting into the joy of being older.  ;D

Quiet - well, the sound of the dishwasher anyway.  I love quiet.  Mom and her bf and my brother Ken have left.  DP is reading with his NOOK.  The DD's are asleep on the couch with us, and I'm just enjoying the quiet.  Tomorrow, the plan is to decorate the outside of the house.  I think I'm going to get some new lawn decorations at Home Depot to add to our outside decor.

In the meantime.... quiet.

For my Thanksgiving memory, I will give you an excerpt from my book:

I love Thanksgiving. I have very warm childhood memories of that
holiday.  Every year, we would have a family gathering at our home. My
aunt, uncle and two cousins, as well as my half-brother Hersh and his
family were always there.

We’d sit around the table and, after everybody had stuffed themselves,
people would tell jokes. My uncle, Kenneth, was the #1 storyteller,
but on this particular year, I also decided to contribute to the
merriment…with disastrous results.

I think it was 1954. I would have been thirteen-years-old.

Without contemplating the consequences, I told this very funny
joke that I’d heard at school, and I told it very well.

Correction! I didn’t just tell it very well. I told it brilliantly. I had a
captive audience.

Then, I came to the punch line…which ended with the word “f**k”.

My mother, who’d had a few too many drinks in her, started laughing
hysterically. No matter what else you say about her, she was a wonderful
audience.

Unfortunately, everybody else at the table sat in a stunned silence. If
my mother hadn’t been laughing, you could have heard a pin drop.

You see, in 1954, a thirteen-year-old boy did not say
“f**k”...particularly in front of adults.

The first one to speak was my father. Pointing at me, he started
shouting at my mother, “You’re the one who encourages him! This is all
your doing!”

Within two minutes, all of our very embarrassed guests had excused
themselves and left our house.

I don’t recall if I was sent to my room or not, but I know I never
told another joke at Thanksgiving dinner.

 ;D

I said "damn" once when I was a kid. My dad thought it was hilarious.

My friend Margo's middle daughter just out of the blue once said, "Mom, don't f*ck with my mind!"  Margo had to hold back her laughter so that she wouldn't encourage her daughter's use of the word. :D

Three words:  Dee. Vee. Arr. ;)
