Thank goodness the GAP is going back to its original logo!  I don't think they realize the criticism is really directed at THEM not at the change.....

vibes to our dear TD...

Twilight Zone - the one where the deformed woman's plastic surgery didn't work, they take off her bandages, shock and horror all 'round. She'll never look normal. Then, pull back and see a classically beautiful 'patient' surrounded by grotesque 'normal' people...
Also, the guy who wants to be left the hell alone with his books... upshot, he's the only survivor of a cataclsmc event... nothing but time alone with his books! Huzzah! Then he breaks his reading glasses. Oy...
and the one where the little brat - with a major gift - keeps everyone on their toes to please him..
Guy who can't stand his life gets of the train in another time and place...
and, of course, Shatner on a plane with a gremlin.

Tuesday morning greetings!  A puttering day here at home - Richard and I are going to the senior center to for their Oktoberfest dinner and to sign me up to use the exercise room, then we're going to the annual meeting for our neighborhood arboretum.

TOD:

I can't remember the first "Twilight Zone" episode I saw.  I think we saw them all, but I know for sure I've seen them all.

The one that made the greatest impact upon me:  "To Serve Man"

"To Serve Man":  Aliens come to earth.  They make contact with earth's leaders.  They seem peaceful, willing to share wonderful technology and committed to helping the human race.  They present a book to the leader of a body of countries (the U.N.?), the title of which is translated as "To Serve Man."    Mankind is elated, life improves and the aliens offer trips in their ships to humanity to their homeworld.   I don't remember the "star" of the episode, but he has signed up for a trip.  Just as he's about to board, a female associate, who has been involved in translation of the book, runs to him and says, "To Serve Man...it's a COOK BOOK."  He is herded onto the space ship and fade out.

Today's news from the PR firm battlefront department:

1.  Small PR firm handles press for several niche studios, which are receiving their biggest coverage from our site.
2.  Small PR repeatedly chooses not to respond to screener requests or follow up emails/phone calls.
3.  Site rep (that would be me) finally, after several weeks of no response, emails the studio.
4.  Suddenly PR rep is *very* available and *very* angry.
5.  Tough cookies.

RE: last night's DANCING WITH THE STARS

I really liked the acoustics part of the show. But I don't think having them dance in the round was that great. It was too small.

My favorites were Jennifer and Derek (totally amazing) and Audrina and Tony.

My two least favorite celeb dancers (The Situation and Bristol Palin) I thought were sort of wrongly berated last night. I actually felt bad for them both.  Here they are performing live in front of millions of people. And the judges were really mean to them. I thought that Karina did an amazing routing. The lifts were really good. And the routine was really fun to watch.

And Bristol, even though she's stiff as a board. She still tries and has some potential. It's weird because the first week or two i thought that the judges were being way too easy on her. But now I find them being too hard!

TOD:

I don't really have anything to add to the discussion--I haven't seen an episode in ages.  It's one of those shows that have fallen off my radar.

I guess I need to revisit it...

As for the Topic of the Day...

DITTO

;)

The funny thing about my "history" with "The Twilight Zone" is that I didn't see the more famous ones like "To Serve Man" and "The Eye of the Beholder" until years(!) after I had seen my first episode - which, I believe, was "A Most Unusual Camera".

My office computer was upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 this past Friday.

I'm adapting well....one of my co-workers is not.

Windows 7 seems to me a very APPLE like application.....I owned a computer with that OS for ONE DAY and returned it to the store.

I now own a SONY VAIO with Vista which I like very much....even though I had heard terrible things about it......if I want an APPLE OS - I will buy an APPLE COMPUTER....the G4 in the other room has one, and it gets very little use.

Penny, that patient is none other than Miss Ellie May, Donna Douglas.

I had two copies of a Twilight Zone picture book that featured that episode.  When Miss Donna Douglas came to my town for a personal  appearance, I took her one to give her.  She said "Oh, I can't take your book....the director told me it had come out, but I've never seen it."  I gave it to her, and didn't tell her it only cost me twenty five cents.
