Last night Keith & I saw this sundae, made with vanilla bean ice cream. on "Man VS Food".  You have no idea how much we both want to try this. 

If only I had known this place existed when I was in Philly last year.

DR Jane - Been there. Done that. Twice.

Although, in the spirit of full disclosure, it was a group effort both times.

*Franklin Fountain does have some amazing treats. Although, another option is to head to Reading Terminal Market and combine some treats from Flying Monkey Patisserie and Bassetts Ice Cream for a "Make Your Own" sundae.

The Enabler Confesses!

Well... There were three of us, and we split two of their huge sundaes, so...

LOL, sounds about right.  So how good were they?  Did you have vanilla or chocolate in the Mt. Vesuvius?  What else did you have?  I also want to try a waffle sandwich.

Hmmm.... So there's the JapanTown Soul Food Festival this afternoon, and the last night of the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy tonight.  Hmmm....

Because of the demand to record in the Academy of Arts & Letters and the available dates of 17 singers, we had to take the dates we could get, so this recording is taking 3 days in September (18, 20, 21), then 9 days i October (Oct 2-6, 19-22), two days in November (Nov 11-12) and 3 days in January (Jan 5-7).

DR Jose, I am suspecting that the singer is having what I'll call lesbophobia but since it's something for her to work out internally and I neither want to see her flip out nor let her marriage fall apart, I am respecting her wishes. She's a wonderful lady and a phenomonal singer and I want her to be happy. The musical director said she got very emphatic about singing it.

DR elmore - That's understandable. Of course, now I'm wondering if she would ever approach Strauss' "Ständchen".  -And that's one song that was most definitely written for a woman's voice, even though the poem is from a man's point of view.  -Although, I do get get a kick out of Fischer Dieskau's recording (transposed down a few steps, of course )

I can't imagine how she'd deal with playing the Marschallin in ROSENKAVALIER deither!

Seriously, I may have to investigate if "lesbophobia" is a common(?) issue with singers. -And by "investigate", I mean ask my fellow musical colleagues on Twitter.

Is it JFK in general, or just Jet Blue at JFK that's the problem?

Does/has anybody here watched the series Burn Notice?

Since we don't get USA it was never on here. But they've started showing the first season.

I watched the first episode and can't decide if it's something I'd like or not. I do tend to like the shows on USA (I love Royal Pains, White Collar and In Plain Sight). The lead guy is appealing. I was just curious if this is a must see show.

We watch it and have liked it from the very beginning.  I suggest giving it another try.  I remember some complaints about his mother.  With time she becomes more endearing though still tough.   I like her.

And, like Jane, I have never missed an episode and enjoy it a great deal. With time you do appreciate that "mother" has to be an insufferable pain to put the added angst into Michael's life.

Is it JFK in general, or just Jet Blue at JFK that's the problem?

JFK, like many busy airports, schedules many more flights for a specific departure time than the runways can accommodate. A posted departure time of 8:00 AM simply means your flight is scheduled to be a part of the multi-plane cadre slotted for 8-8:30. Airlines routinly allow for up to thirty minute delays in depature in their posted schedules.

I'm back from the Flea Market (I've been back for a while but I napped). It was the usual madhouse. I saw some friends. I saw John Fricke across the crowd but it was so crowded that I couldn't get over to say hello. I don't really know him so much but he's a very good friend of a college friend of mine and he knows Anthony also.

I go each year to see a few friends and to get Christmas gifts for my niece and nephew who both like theatre. I buy them various theatre things which make them very happy on Christmas day. I got each of them a hat with logos from last year's season. I got each of them a 46th Annual Tony Awards t-shirt. I got my nephew a Phantom of the Opera bag (he LOVES Phantom) and my niece a Legally Blonde bag. I got them each a refrigerator magnet (niece Meet Me In Saint Louis, nephew Kiss Me Kate since they had no Phantom magnets) and I got 4 photos related to Phantom, a head shot of Mr. Lloyd-Weber, a head shot of Michael Crawford, a publicity shot of Sara Brightman and a shot of the 20th Anniversary cast of Phantom.

We are about to go out for tea with friends which will serve as dinner.
