Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not randy and had no stories, and now it is time for you to post until the randy cows come home.

Good morning, all! After all the drugs around 7 last night, i woke around 5 am and decided to get up around 5:45. It's 6:30, i'm bathed, dressed and on my second cup of coffee. To those who asked about whether SOUTH PACIFIC was live or prereorded, you clearly didn't read my post about the bus passing all of the broadcasting trucks lined up along 65th Street. I suspect they were using the matinee as a dress rehearsal. Since the Aug 18 broadcast date was given two months ago, I suspect that a lot of the enthusiastic audience purchased tickets then to be there for the big event. It's also one of the last chances to see Kelli and Paolo before the run ended, and at that time it was believed that Matthew Morrison would return to play Cable.

DR edisaurus, I believe you saw William Michals as beBeque, and I don't know if he put in an appearance as an ensemble person or not; he's usually the replacement deBeque only.

Enough carping. I made sure it was taping and went to bed. I'll check the videocassette later, and if I need to rerecord it, I've got two more dates befofre next Monday.

This morning I have the McGlinnventory at 9 am, followed by an editing session with Mr Skip Kennon, composer extraordinaire, at 1. I haven't seen him in about a month so it will be nice to catch up.

DR Laura, the kittens are adorable as always, and the photos make me want to take one of them home, but then I remember things like litter boxes, vet, feeding them, and change my mind.

TOD:
The Boy Friend: I cannot believe all of Ken Russell's films aren't on DVD!
Prospero's Books: I cannot believe more of Peter Greenaway isn't on DVD, although I'm not a huge fan of his nor of Michael Nyman's soundtracks
The Uninvited: one of the best ghost movies ever and "Stella By Starlight!"
Advance to the Rear:  there's a lot of enthusiasm for this comedy that I cannot understand from what I saw; the bootleg appears to be cut, the sound is lousy, and it makes little sense
Finder's Keepers: one of Richard Lester's last films, sort of a cross between "Hail the Conquering Hero" and Joe Orton's "Loot" and I can't believe all of his films aren't on DVD!
Handle With Care: I loved this film in the 1970s, and the concept of everyone hiding real identity behind their radio personas

TOD:

BLACK TUESDAY w/Edward G. Robinson.

It's sort of the lost "Holy Grail" of film noir.

There are some terrible copies floating around, but it would be nice to have a good one.

JMK,

I just saw your message from yesterday:

"Druxy, I arrived home to a little sheet music purchase:  a certain Academy Award nominated song some PR guru pulled a phone stunt with to get a nomination."

I think I know what you're talking about, but I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

Please explain.

Well, idiot that I am, I managed to completely forget about SOUTH PACIFIC last night.  It wasn't until I was half way through the delightfully ridiculous NAUGHTY BUT NICE (with Dick Powell and Ann Sheridan and many, many others) that I remembered that SP was being broadcast.  Oh, well--I have another chance to forget about it on Sunday...

I did take a peek at it, though and yes, the television direction was incompetent.  A wonderful little moment such as Cable laying eyes on Liat for the first time was marred by a clumsy camera shot of Cable (with his back to the camera) blocking Bloody Mary who in turn was blocking Liat.  And from what I read on a certain message board, a nice bit of business was missed during the entr'acte because they cut away too late from Alan Alda's intermission chat with Bartlett Sher.

Kirk Browning is sorely missed...

I would like to see the release of a number of made-for-TV movies from the 70's:

IN THIS HOUSE OF BREDE
DO NOT FOLD, SPLINDLE OR MUTILATE
THE GIRL MOST LIKELY TO...
THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER
THE GLASS HOUSE

I got a very disturbing email a couple of days ago. Well it didn't seem disturbing then.  I thought it was spam. It was from Caesar's palace thanking me for staying there. With an attachment to open re: my bill.

I didn't think anything of it and went to Caesar's real website and opened a file and told them i got spam from their address.

Well imagine my surprise when they say that they actually do have a group room from august 13th under my email address. The person asked for my address and birthdate just to see if it compares.

I still haven't opened the attachment until i see for sure if this address is legit. Although i think now it is. I just wonder what the story is.

Thursday morning greetings!  After 2 pretty busy days, I'm going to take it easy today and be rested for my book group to come over tonight to watch THE GROUP - others are bringing refreshments, so all I have to do is make some coffee and put the tea kettle on.

BK expressed all of my sentiments about PBS' SOUTH PACIFIC broadcast - the lack of attention to the orchestra was particularly annoying.  During one of the banal intermission segments, Mary Rodgers gushed about the orchestra and then the balanities continued even as we could hear the brilliant entr'acte in the background.

And Barack Obama is president.

We go through this every day, in case the kids try to put us in The Home so we will pass the current events portion of the intake exam.

Those would be my top two picks.

I know, most E and T, my standard MO but life has been nuts -- maybe, just maybe, the dust will settle. And I'm a little gun shy to come on this here site because my Norton anti-virus is still flashing the message each time I try to visit that this here site is "Warning: This Site Is Unsafe" -- it is now showing 6 instead of the former 4 -- so the unseemly bug threat is growing. Why is it doing this?

Computer experts please advise. Ignore the warning and take the chance of getting HHW cooties as I'm doing or run -- don't walk -- away?
