We just finished watching MAD MEN, Season 2.

The story is moving along much better now.

I ate too much and didn't walk today.  This is not the way to lose weight and tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for lunch at the Indian restaurant.

Instead of walking I had a morning appointment with the specialist to discuss how to stop my bones from breaking.  This afternoon I called the insurance company to send forms for my doctor to fill out for pre-approval on a very expensive mediation.  If approved I will then have the privilege of giving myself an injection every morning for the next two years.  If not approved I can give up eating and lose those extra pounds. ;)

I've been reading the info on the med-can't wait to travel with it.  The least of my problems is that is can't go through the x-ray machine.  The biggest problem is it must be kept refrigerated.  It comes with a 9x7x5 soft carry on container with ice packs to keep the medicine cold, but only up to ten hours. ???  What if I can't get a room with a refrigerator & freezer!

It has gotten very hot and humid again.
Same here. I feel like I'm melting every time I walk out the door. And then we did swing tonight in dance class, so I worked up a sweat only to go outside and sweat some more. Ugh.

I'm not getting neutered today!
I'm not either. What a reason to celebrate!

Did I miss something?  Is "I'm not getting neutered today" an homage to Getting Married Today, and I missed the set-up somewhere?

Cilla and Larry - I recall that Maureen Silliman was with our group at Joe Allen's that night, too, and I think Lenny Wolpe as well.

Yes, Richard and I were there, too - what a great night!

Six of my book club girlfriends came over tonight to watch THE GROUP, a DVD I now own thanks to DR Elmore.  One of them brought a fantastic fruit cobbler.  It was so nice to see my friends.

This morning was wonderful, I drove to Omaha for an immigration interview with a client.  He came here on a visitor visa with his mom when he was only about 2-3 years old and never left.  His dad (a permanent resident) filed for him to become a resident about 7 years ago and now a visa is available.  The fun part is they thought he had to go back to Mexico and try to go through the consulate -  a complicated procedure with no guarantee he would be allowed back in- but when they came to me for help, I knew a way that he didn't need to do that.  Today, at 22 years old and a college student wanting to become a middle school math teacher, my client became a lawful permanent resident.   His parents were both there for the interview.  They were all SOOOO nervous, which made it even more joyful when he got the approval.

He is a great kid. Never been in trouble, smart, wants to do good things with his life.  Now he can.  This makes all the craziness and the insanity worth while.

That's wonderful, Cillaliz! It feels so good when you're able to help someone who is so motivated to have a productive life and give back to his community.

LOL That's exactly what was going through my mind when I read DR Laura writing about the boys getting neutered today and all I could think was "And I'm not getting neutered today"   Wondered who would catch the reference :)

The boys are getting neutered today. The girls are too small.

DR FJL  This is what got my mind on that track...I immediately imagined the girl kitties running around singing "And I'm not getting Neutered today"....it's been a long day

My client was terrified of having to go to Mexico.  He's been here all his life and has no recollection of Mexico.  He knows about the violence now and did not want to go there at all.  The look on his face as the realization sunk in that he didn't have to leave the country,  that he's now totally legal and that he can pursue his dream was priceless.  The agent stood up, shook his hand, welcomed him and said he'd see him in 5 years when his citizenship could be approved.  Moments like that make all the frustration and craziness worth it.

Whew!  I had a Vixmom kind of day....not the cat who got spayed, but the human Vixmom who works so hard.  I don't know how you do it every day, my friend....time to get some rest. One more of these this week....

I didn't realize this was part of AmericCorps.  Will he spend the entire time in his hometown?  Not a bad gig. :)
[/quote]

Yes, DR Jane, it should be a nice gig for him.  He will be working with the theatre the entire one-year term.  He and his room mate (one of his best buddies from high school) just moved into the bachelor pad this past weekend.

I went to the gal who's editing the clip reel for the JMK event in November - we went through everything, made choices, and now she'll assemble what in essence will be two ten-minute sequences.  I came home about nine and finally did my mile and a half jog.  I watched the rest of act one of South Pacific.

TOD

I think I would love to see Arnold on DVD or Blu Ray. That film starred Elsa Lancaster, Stella Stevens, Roddy McDowall, Shani Wallis, and Farley Granger. It a fun film where people die in outrageous fashion

I remember seeing this in the theater with my sister when we lived in Colorado, when I was between 7 and 10 years old.  That movie scared me! :o I was too young to realize that it was supposed to be funny.

Today was a very long day.  I went to work, and at around noon-fifteen-ish, we had our annual summer potluck (I brought the banana bread muffins and chocolate chip cookies that I made last night).  We had hot dogs, hamburgers and Boca burgers, salads, chips, lots of desserts and a good time was had by all.  One of our computer people, Donna, is getting married on Saturday, so there was also a cake for her.  Her fiance (I forget his name) was there also and was introduced to the staff.

After that, it was nothing but invoicing!  Today was the cut-off to get invoices paid in our computer and I invoiced until 10:00 pm...with appropriate bathroom breaks. ;) The computer department has it set up for all the library computers to automatically turn off at 10 pm to save electricity (if someone is working late, all you have to do is turn your computer back on, but you can't stop it from turning off, so you'd better make sure that everything is saved).

Anyway, I was almost done with the invoices that I had to do when the message "Your computer will turn off in five minutes" popped up.  I calmly (but quickly) finished the invoice that I was working on and then was actually able to finish the very last two invoice that needed to be done this month!  I closed all my applications, cleared the cache of my browser, filled in my electronic time sheet and about 15 seconds later, my computer automatically shut off.  It timed out perfectly!  I still had to file the paper copies, which took about 15 minutes, and then I was officially done.  That's the latest that I've stayed at work in a very long time.
