Well, you've read the notes, the notes waxed nostalgic for Web TV, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently on Web TV as they are so ten years ago.

I am so sorry George about the passing of your co worker

Thanks Vixmom and Jane and MBarnum.  It was a very nice service.  Several people from work were there...I was actually surprised, however, that more people from work weren't there. :-\ Marian's two daughters from Idaho and their husbands were there.  Several people spoke, and then there was a reception after the memorial, but I drove a co-worker who needed to get back to work, so we didn't go to the reception.

After that, I went back to work for a bit and then went to Seattle for the Storm vs. Chicago Sky women's basketball game...the Storm won 80-60!  They are at 21 wins and 2 losses for the season!  It was announced at the game that that is the third best season in WNBA history!

Just had to share. :D

I got up to Seattle about an hour before the game started.  I didn't want to go into the Key Arena and just sit or walk around in a circle for an hour, so I walked instead to a local used record/CD store just a couple of blocks away.  I looked around for a bit and finally found the section with new and used musicals on CD.  There wasn't too much that I wanted, but I ended up getting the 1999 reissue of Gypsy for $5 and the 1996 new Broadway cast recording of The King and I with Donna Murphy and Lou Diamond Phillips (album produced by our very own BK!) for only $3!  And both were in very good condition!  I did put the Gypsy recording into a new jewel case, but The King and I doesn't need a new one. :)

Well, Judah - today is the day.

Yes, Messala, today is the day.

I am working today - and my sister and my mother are going to the Humane Society to look at CATS.  I may indeed have a cat when I get home tonight.

Time will tell.

Web Tv - did it use your phone line?  Was it an ISP?  I only know ONE person who had it - and she disconnected it soon after getting it because no one could watch the tv when she was on the net.

That was going to be my question too, but I was also going to ask that I presume there was a keyboard of some sort. Was it like a keyboard that we know today?

The Franklin Mint offered very, very special editions of Scrabble and Monopoly. There were also at table that went along with either Scrabble or Monopoly.

DR der Brucer - LOL, that's a great addition to my collection of images of women with books!  Actually, in my early worklife, mini skirts were still very much in fashion and I had the figure to wear them.  One of my student assistants told me that she'd heard someone refer to me as "The Librarian with the Legs."  Ah, those days are gone...

Good morning, all! After DR Ben left, I tidied up and headed off to bed, where I lay awake in the dark for a very long time unable to sleep. I finally passed out but I slept fitfully with dreams I can no longer rememember. I would have slept longer, but I had to be up early to call Ron Raines before he boards his flight for the week cruise he's on. I wanted to check on the HANSEL & GRETEL production, hear how Charlotte is doing in the Berkshires, and wish him a safe trip.

Speaking of Ron, DR TCB, I did indeed loathe TITANIC on Broadway: it had a dreadful set, a horrid book, and a good cast including my friends Judy Blazer, Don Stephenson, and David Garrison. I remember some of the score as being quite beautiful - Maury Yeston is a good writer - and I remember phoning Jonathan Tunick to tell him how fantastic the orchestrations were the day after I saw the show (the day after its opening when it received tepid reviews) but I cannot separate the score and my wish to hear it again from a production I detested. I stll believe the show succeeded because of the success at the same time of the James Cameron film and because its Tony Award performance made it look much better than it actually was.

DR JRand59, I gather you have a problem with the Indianapolis Symphony? What's it all about, Alfy?

TOD: I'm pursuing my collectibles project, but if I had all the money I needed, I'd be pulling a John McGlinn and buying complete editions of the composers I liked - there's this New Johnann Strauss Edition I've been eyeign, but each volume in American currency is between $700-900 - and I'd be pursuing used music and book stores around the globe for out of print books and vocal scores. I have been buying first editions of books I like, and I'm waiting to pick up the first three early novels by Carl Hiaasen.
