THE THING WITH THE PERIODS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the thing and the periods, and now it is time for you to post until the period cows come home - they're currently in 1886.

Good morning, all! I have another McGlinnventory day, followed by God knows what. Last night I had a peculiar dream involving a holiday maybe Thanksgiving, an apartment full of dogs of all breeds and ages, amd the only other person I remember in the dream was a girl I had a crush on in junior high and high school . I also remember a door that needed painting at one end of a hall and another door at the other end that was fine.

TOD: Vampire movies? I remember lots of cheesy ones from the 50s and 60s, but I did like these:
    THE BRIDES OF DRACULA
    VAMPIRE CIRCUS
    MARTIN
LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH (This movie creeped me out; I think it's a vampire film)

Thursday morning greetings!  Woke up early again this morning - I have some deadlines that I'm having trouble meeting and they're keeping me awake.  Anyone want to speak to a group of grantwriters on August 3?

I could talk to them about Grant's tomb. Or Cary Grant.

Favorite vampire movies? I was a "Dark Shadows" fan as a kid, but the movie versions of Dracula or other vampires were never quite as successful as I thought they should have been. That said, I loved both the original "Nosferatu" and Werner Herzog's remake with Klaus Kinski and Bruno Ganz. For the sheer fun of it, I also liked "Blacula." The original "Blade" was also good.

DR FJL, Richard keeps asking me the same thing.  This particular issue has to do with a commitment I'd made to a professional organization while I was still working.  My term on their board runs through December, 2010, and it can't come soon enough, believe me!

TOD:

I've never been a big fan of vampire (or any horror) movies, but there are definitely exceptions.

SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE w/Willem Dafoe

and

HORROR OF DRACULA
w/Christopher Lee (my former client), who was the best Dracula of them all.

Surprisingly, after I discovered them, I became a fan of:

BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
and ANGEL

And, I also am enjoying TRUE BLOOD.

I'm a sucker for good writing.  [No pun intended.]

TOD:

DRACULA (1931)

DRACULA'S DAUGHTER (1936)

HOUSE OF DRACULA (1945)

ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN (and Dracula) (1948)

and my all time favorite vampire movie...THE BLOOD OF DRACULA (1957)

....... basically a vampire version of I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF.

TOD - The Lost Boys

Hello everybody!   It's Thursday.  Annie resumes tonight, which is fun.  More trips to Italy and then Agrahbah today also.  I'm ready for camps to be over.  There is still about two weeks left.  Other that that, same stuff, different day.

I, too, am a fan of the TV shows Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. Angel, and True BloodBuffy is my all-time favorite show.

In films, I've really enjoyed Near Dark and Lifeforce (go figure...it's really bad, but it has many amazing things in it, not the least of which is a dazzling score by Henry Mancini).

I'm also quite partial to the original TV version of Stephen King's Salem's Lot.

I never thought of ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN as a vampire movie, but I guess it is.

It is definitely a favorite.

That movie is one of a kind (I hope).

Actually, I knew (director) Herb Strock.

He was also one of Ted Mikel's mentors.
