My mom just got it from the library.

I remember you saying you liked Janet Evanovich books.  I saw on the VIEW today Sherri announced that she will be playing the part of Lulu in the movie (the one where Katherine Heigl will be playing stephanie plum). Apparently sherri (shepherd co-host of the VIEW) is a big fan of the books and wanted to play that part (of a hooker?) since she first read book 1.

I'll take photos.  The bikers (as in bicyclists) are often in teams, dressed up like...oh bees, elvis, cows, you name it.  I really should do it one of these years, at least for a day or two.  It's 7 days of riding through the country, partying (or not) town after town having all sorts of events, tons of great food and for at least 99 % of the people, just a crazy, up-beat wonderful feeling (I'm sure the alcohol helps)  No deadlines, the only rules are when services (emergency, vans to pick you up if you cant' ride any more etc) end for a stretch of the road. So, time doesn't really exist.  Most people camp out in tent cities or in people's yards.   There are supposed to be around 20,000 on the ride.  I think about 10,000 are officially registered.

I haven't read either or these. But usually when someone posts a book here i go to amazon.com to check on it. Some of the comments on THE AMERICAN GIRL are rather interesting.

I also like to see the ratings. If a book has mostly 5s it's usually a good one.

I also found the range of comments interesting for both books.  I didn't the number ratings.  Are you going to read American Girl now?

I'm not sure. I'm definitely not going to read it right now, since my library doesn't have it. And I have 3 books now and am on a list for about 6 others.

There was something one reviewer wrote which sort of turned me off (saying how it was confusing).

A few of the reviews also discouraged me away.  The woman who owns the wonderful book shop in town loved it.

Do you usually like the books that she recommends?

The store leaves index cards on books various people recommend.  I asked myself the same question and I can't answer it.  The guy that helped me in the store wrote the review for The Magicians and I have mixed opinions on his suggestions.

Oh it's called RAGBRAI  Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa.   It started with some reporters from the Des Moines Register and has turned into a really cool thing. Cities compete to be the over night cities. Since there aren't very many cities on the Missouri, we get to host th beginning every few years. You dip your wheel in the Missouri to get started and then dip your wheel in the Mississippi at the end.

re: the hoopnotica.

I have not tried it yet. But from what i've seen it is not really like a hula hoop. It is weighted inside the hoop. So you can swing it on your hips or move it in the air above your head.  It looks exactly like a hula hoop. But it is very rhythmical.

I am gonna try it outside tomorrow (if I get it tomorrow).  From what i saw you put your right foot out and you move your body forward and backward not round and round like you would with a regular hoop.

One reason i wanted it is because it is supposed to be very good for your waist. I think if my waist was an inch or two smaller i could fit into all my smaller clothes.

I noticed it seemed more more rhythmical than a traditional HH.  However most of the moves shown are the same including moving the body with one foot out, etc.

I recently read Fifteen.  While I still enjoy them they are getting somewhat redundant so I'm not rushing to read sixteen. 

I didn't know a movie was in production-funny since I was thinking about it yesterday and wondered what happened.  Last I heard Reese Witherspoon was maybe doing it, and that was a few years back.

I think Jason O'Mara is a good choice for Morelli.  What does your mother think of the cast?

I read it in 1964, either before or right after I finished Katherine Anne Porter's SHIP OF FOOLS. Mary McCarty and Lillian Hellman hated each other and I'm siding with Lillian. Miss McCarty is a homophobic old coot, who in THE GROUP certainly dislikes gay men and lesbians, which I find surprising given her world of actors and private ladies colleges.
