DR Jose I just clicked on your list of words that people spell incorrectly. For some reason i thought it would be difficult words, and not just the basics.  But still interesting.

It is a good, basic list, however, I will say I guess it's more slanted toward "usage" rather than "misspelling". However, they are quite common, sometimes too common. ;)

*There is usually a bit of "forgiveness" when it comes to misspelling "difficult words".  Not so much with "lose" v. "loose", and "its" v. "it's".

Glad to be home, actually, but didn't want to come back.  The two weeks just zoomed by.

Each year, I find it harder to remove "retirement" from my "near future".

The Brothers Smothers' soundcheck when I opened for them was one of the most fascinating yet kind of creepy things I had ever witnessed.  They weren't shy about sharing their familial animus with the assembled multitudes.  ;)

Our family gathered around the radio a while ago to listen to Carl Kasell's final newscast on NPR.  Best retirement wishes, CK!

Well... Guess I'll find out if the NYPD have blocked off more than just 42nd St & Broadway.  -Although, from the pic in that article, it looks like the van is parked right in front of the 1/2/3/N/R/W station.  At least I'm on the A.

DR Elmore - give Josh our best on this special day!

I will; we were just PM-ing on Facebook. He's getting excited and there will be several of his good friends there to cheer for him. I just wrapped his debut gift and I need to find a nice card.

He's a little nervous and very excited. The orchestra, which has a lot of Encores! players, loves him, and Suzanne, the concert master, and Billy, the drummer, will help him along although I don't think he'll need much help. Suzanne played for a recording session he did last year and she says he's a really good conductor.

I am so looking forward to this.

Re: INGLORIUS BASTERDS

I really liked the film, too.

Any movie that has Jews killing Nazis has got to be good.

keith recently moved it to the top of our netflix queue.  it has a very long wait before it is available.

My first question for ASK BK day.....do you like The Smothers Brothers, did you watch their show?

I think I've written of them here before, but yes, I loved and love them and never missed an episode of their show.  I don't like watching Tom when he's in his pontificating mode, but when they're doing the thing they do, I adore them.

Yesterday I made two pots of soup with the goose carcasses - it looks really fine!! I think I'll have some for lunch today. I keep unintentionally referring to said concoction as Duck Soup - probably in tribute to the film which I have loved watching many times.

Okay - so here's a question for BK: have you ever eaten a goose??

I believe the answer to that question would be no.

Question for BK:  with there being ten slots for Best Picture in this year's Oscar race, which schlock release do you think might be able to find its way into being nominated?

I haven't seen enough movies this year to know, but ten slots is just ridiculous and just about everything that was an Oscar bait film can get up.

CDs arrived at nine and I've got all the domestic copies packaged and am going to do some of the overseas now.  These are more complicated than usual because of the multiples, which sometimes includes one copy of one and two copies of another and then sometimes an older CD - I have to be very careful.  I have not heard a peep from the helper about stopping in Century City for the tapes - I've left her another message and another e-mail, but I have to tell her she's got to get back to me in a much more timely manner than this.
