Ginny, does everyone who lives in the apartments have to buy new carpet?

Yes, it's part of the stimulus package.  Aren't you glad you live in a house?

Good news:  pool is in great shape.

Bad news:  Got home to my realtor phoning saying the bank had rejected the offer.

Good news:  Realtor was confused why they had listed "inspection and repairs" as reason since the bank had already said they wouldn't make repairs and we had put that in there just to let them know what it was going to cost.

Bad news:  Bank and/or bank's realtor never bothered to look at subsequent pages of our offer, which included an "as is" offer at a reduced price.

Good news?  We'll have to wait and see.

DR Laura - Mom's not buying this carpet; they routinely refurbish the living quarters from time to time.  The patio home she's in now will be due for its regular upgrade this spring, so she'd probably have had to move out temporarily anyway.

That's good. I'm glad she doesn't have to pay for it but gets to pick it out.

DR George reminded me, I have The Manhattan Transfer's autograph(s), too!  The souvenir brochure from their "Mecca for Moderns" tour!

I saw that tour and I have that program!  It was the first time that I had ever seen them live...and the last time that they had programs for sale. :-\

And kiss my ASS.  No packages at all today - but a bill came, so there was that.  No check came from the dealer who is now four CDs behind in paying.  I don't mind as long as I get a check every week, which is usually the case, but he missed two weeks ago, which was not good, and hopefully I'll have a check tomorrow or Saturday.

Did anyone see the Michael Moore documentary?  I want to see it, but the Blu and Ray doesn't come out until March.  I'll have to see if there are any screenings coming up, although it's doubtful as it didn't make the short list for the Oscars.

I just re-read the first part of today's topic of discussion:

Quote
If you could own any autograph in the world, whose would it be and why would that one be the one you’d want?

If I could own any autograph that I don't already have, it would have to be the autograph of the very one, the very only...Mr. Stephen Sondheim.  I have been a fan of his music for many, many, many (that's three manys) years.  I know several people here already have it, but I don't.  Sigh.

Someday.

Found a copy of the TV GUIDE that I needed, so we shall see what is revealed about BARBARY COAST that was broadcast on ABC on October 20, 1958 - or if it just raises more questions.

You do have an extensive TV Guide collection, don't you!

The other night I came across a box that contained the remnants of my once-huge collection--only a few Christmas week issues and some with Amsel drawn covers.  I have here the 1981 issue for this very week.  Tonight you could have watched a CBS special presentation of LITTLE LORD FAUNTLEROY with Alec Guinness and Ricky Schroder.   If that wasn't to your tastes, FATHER MURPHY was doing his thing on NBC.

I hope I had cable back then...

OH!  But before I go... For any DRs who may also happen to be on Facebook.  Facebook recently changed their Privacy Settings and Policies.  However, it appears that they've failed to mention - at least up front - one other change, so... -This is from a friend:

"As of today, Facebook will automatically index all your info on Google, which allows everyone to view it. To change this option, go to Settings --> Privacy Settings --> Search --> then UN-CLICK the box that says 'Allow indexing'. Facebook kept this one quiet. Copy and paste onto your status for all your friends ASAP."

Depending how you set up your profile, the "Allow Indexing" box may already be un-checked.  In any case..

The important thing to note here is that even though you might not mind having what you've posted on your own Wall to be "indexed", keep in mind that it will also "index" what your friends post on your wall. Check and uncheck accordingly.

i went to do it and this came up:

"Worried about search engines? Your information is safe.
There have been misleading rumors recently about Facebook indexing all your information on Google. This is not true. Facebook created public search listings in 2007 to enable people to search for your name and see a link to your Facebook profile. They will still only see a basic set of information."

I don't see "allow indexing" anywhere antwhere!

Oh.. Looks like Facebook changed the wording over the past 24 hours. So...

Click on "Settings" in the upper right-hand corner.
From that drop-down menu, click on "Privacy Settings".
Then click on "Search".
After a FB pop-up about the Privacy Settings, you should see "Public Search Results". There should be a box to the right, "Allow".  Check or uncheck it.

i had the allowed button checked.  you can preview what that shows.  it doesn't seem to be different than what previously appeared so i don't think fb changed anything.

The good news is that my doctor was very pleased with my blood work--cholesterol is low along with my AC1 number.  The bad news is my weight gain but I expected to hear about that.

So on the way home I stopped at a Pathmark market to pick up a few things and lo and behold, they were offering H1N1 shots.  I thought, "Why the heck not?" so I filled out the paperwork, forked over $15, bared my manly shoulder and got innoculated. I feel very trendy!
