Btw...

When I clicked on the link that DR vixmom provided the other day, I was actually a little surprised.  When she mentioned that DR the vixter and her classmates would be heading to The Met to see an opera, I figured it was going to be the upcoming return of their production of Hansel & Gretel, and then I clicked on the link...  Needless to say, Strauss' Elektra is quite a different opera-going experience.

Yes, nothing screams Christmas (literally) like 'Elektra.'  I just reviewed a BD version that, while incredibly well sung, had been "reimagined" into something akin to Fosse's 'Cabaret," complete with cross dressing ensemble members.  I kid you not.

DR JRand (once again) - That's cool that they're doing lunchtime cabarets at The Beechman.  Alas, since I'm attending Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Gypsy of the Year competition/presentation later this afternoon... and since I have a couple of things to take care of here around the apartment before I head down to The Palace, I don't think I'll be able to swing on down to 42nd Street and 9th Ave.

Hmmm.... The Palace.. I think I still remember how to get there. ::)

Some of those guys need a TAN!

I use the Chrome Browser.....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....Google Desktop....perhaps I shall make like Lewis & Clark and do some exploration.  I must admit I have never looked at it.

-And in the Tee-Vee presentation, they look tan(ner).  -And Josh Hopkins looked buffer too on the Tee-Vee.  -I wonder if they shot the calendar poses before they started filming.  Or if they ended up having to use some CGI.  ::)

Quiet here now.

Snow has disappeared and none added yet.  So we may be in the clear until this evening DR GINNY.

Thanks for the weather update, DR JRand.  It's raining here now and most of the snow is gone.

And another one down...

Burn the Floor to Close in January 2010

-Well, sorta - since it was supposed to be a limited run anyway, and was originally slated to close weeks ago, but then was extended a few times.

*I have to say, I'm actually kind of curious to see Mary Murphy strut her stuff on stage.  Hmmm...

I'm up, I'm up - another great night's sleep, which I desperately needed - easy to sleep though because it's been raining for hours and hours, which is a good thing for Los Angeles.  First real rain that's lasted longer than three minutes in months and months.

MattH, my first was Target Earth, too - it was also the first sneak preview I ever saw - at the Baldwin Theater in 1954, I believe.  Soon thereafter would have been Forbidden Planet.

Since I have my car back - I can do my Monday errands on Monday.  We had a slight dusting of snow, still some on the ground, but none on the streets.

I am still happy about TAR finale last night, but I am not looking forward to the "star" version next time around which will feature a group of "reality" stars, I guess.....including the stupid MAP blonde from you tube.

Yep, very happy about last night's TAR outcome, too!  And I think the show's editors are probably to be congratulated as much as the winners for the way they were able to make the end of the race still seem exciting.

As for the next season's contestants being comprised of reality show stars, I say Ugh!

Congrats to DR Elmore and the cast of FINIAN'S RAINBOW on their recoring session!  And how nice that they are being treated to an advanced screening of AVATAR, too!

On the run here--must run out to buy hooks to hang poinsetta lights on my living room mirror and a large light-up Santa head.

Wow, not too much interest in The Children's Hour here - of course, several regular Kritzerland customers haven't been on the board yet today.

As for the Topic of the Day....

Hmm...

As for first horror movie, well... The one that sticks in my head is "Trilogy of Terror" - it was shown as part of the afternoon movie series on Channel 7(?) in New London, CT, when I was nine.  The first one I can remember seeing in a movie theater would have to be "The Amityille Horror".  Or maybe "Poltergeist".  -I'm too lazy to check the IMDB right now for the release dates.

As for my first sci-fi movie, well... I guess it was "Star Wars"... OH! Actually, it was "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". -Although, I'm sure I saw a sci-fi or two on the Tee-Vee before then.

And, actually, I need to get ready to head out too.  The "Gypsy of the Year" doesn't start until 4:30, but I have a few errands to accomplish beforehand.

Laters...

Has anyone seen my friend Zach on ALL MY CHILDREN yet?  Every time I tune it in, Susan Lucci's giant head is stuck in the middle of my screen.  :P
