I just got the list of things they're recording for FINIAN'S RAINBOW on Monday. I may make some money on this one!

Great news! :D

Much "high drama" in the office the past couple of days.

Some amusing, some appalling.

All involving "one certain" person (who qualifies as "people", derBrucer, yes indeedy).

I'm biding my time...I have, after today, FOUR MORE WORKDAYS in 2009!

That's right!  Four (count'em FOUR).

Ha!  I got ya beat--I'm outta here on Friday!

Ha, I say!

Ha, Ha I Say!

I have you both beat because I've been outta there since Wednesday, November 25th. I don't got no work days left for 2009!!!

Jane, stay off the morphine otherwise you'll end up like Katherine Hepburn in Long Day's Journey Into Night.

GLEE has a new episode tonight, the penultimate one before the half season finale where the club goes to Sectionals.

Question about GLEE - I've missed the last 2 episodes and not even had time to watch them online.  Is there anything I should know before watching tonight's?

Yes, all but one of the main characters was killed off last week in their musical montage tribute to Columbine.
How Rude!
LOL!

Mad you didn't think about if first, aren't ya?

BK

If you were asked to produce the Academy Award Show want changes would you make (Length, music numbers, tributes, awards presented before the telecast etc)

I would think long and hard about the host - that's for starters.  I'm not sure who it would be, but I'd get the right guy or gal.  Then I'd make sure the writing for that person was actually funny.  Then I'd stop with all the little one-shot newcomers and flavors of the moment and try to have as many legends on the show as we have left (admittedly not that many).  I'd get rid of any extraneous clip segments, I'd stop trying to make it look like a bad episode of Sonny and Cher, and I'd bring some class back.  I'd get rid of all musical segments save for the best song selections and I would have those done simply and not like bad concert performances with terrible overblown lighting.  I would prohibit fans in the audience - sorry, but letting them in for the Oscars and the Tonys turns the shows into a teeny-bopper woo-hooing travesty.  If I were producing, the show would not run one second over three hours, and frankly, I'd probably get it done in two-and-a-half, although these days the commercial time is outrageous, so three hours is really only two.  I would show the nominees the 1954 telecast, when speeches consisted of "thank you" and if they went a few seconds longer, were to the point and gracious and weren't about phony crying jags and emotional idiocy and strutting egos.

I just got the smf error and am now actively leaving our host - I'm at the mercy of my designer calling them, but that will happen in the next few days.  They lied to keep me there, and we've had continual small outages when they promised me we were through with them.  Enough.

Sadly, the NY state senate has just defeated the passage of a same-sex marriage bill.          :(

Well, while you were vactioning in Mafialand, there was this bright light:

ASSOCIATED PRESS

NY court: Married gay couples entitled to benefits
By MICHAEL GORMLEY (AP) – Nov 19, 2009
ALBANY, N.Y. — New York's top court ruled Thursday that gay couples legally married elsewhere are entitled to some government benefits, boosting stalled legislative efforts to legalize same-sex marriage.

Well, I had half a protein tonight: brown rice.  And there are eggs in the white chocolate brownies too.  ::)

I had chili for lunch, and was sort of in the mood for some veggie-heavy for dinner, and since I still had some beets, carrots and sweet potatoes to cook up, well... -I'll probably roast-off the brussels sprouts tomorrow, along with a chicken or pork roast.

Well, in spite of my carnivore bluster, one of my favorite dishes at Marie Callender's was:

Vegetable Platter With Melted Cheese
A selection of fresh broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, baby carrots, potatotes and mushrooms steamed until tender

Served with your choice of garlic bread or cornbread.

It's very busy now in retail, especially at our Borders.  Though there are more shoppers, and many more things for me to do, our daily sales are still down from last year.  People are still spending, but, they are certainly a little more careful about what they are spending.  Plus our bi-weekly sales (including coupons) have been really good bargains (50% off the blu-ray of PLANET EARTH, i.e.) and buy one get one books, combined with many 40% cover stickers as well as sales incentives such as "buy this dvd and get a $5.00 gift card" have certainly made that daily dollar count 'appear' to be less.
I'm certainly enjoying being on the floor and talking books and reading with the customers and sharing those few minutes with them.
BUT, I'm just so darned tired after a day in the store -and it's that time for 40+ hour work weeks - that I have been errant and truant, but, thinking only good thoughts of the folks on HHW.

Pink-undie joy may come to Arizona!

CQ

Quote
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R) -- two of conservatives' favorite anti-illegal immigration firebrands and potential 2010 candidates for statewide office in Arizona -- have teamed up to raise more than $100,000 as part of a holiday party being held Dec. 5.

A recent poll from Rasmussen Reports showed Arpaio leading all comers in the Arizona governor's race, while Hayworth is in a statistcal tie with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in a hypothetical primary match-up.
...

Imagine all the press Governor Joe would get!

der Brucer

I've never seen in our paper that Arpaio is running for governor.

Watched MARKED WOMAN on TCM.  Haven't seen it since I was a kid.  Tough good movie with a terrific Bette Davis performance.  And her five women co performers are also great....especially Lola Lane!

Really dumb Snoop Dogg song and routine on the show.   Really tired of this torn jeans, gangsta style group dancing crap.

Not right now, but I am listening to the splendid sounds of Spencer Day's VAGABOND cd.
Our bosses put two boxes of promotional cds on the break room table and told us all to take two. . . I grabbed up Spencer Day and the two-disc CHESS IN CONCERT.
If you havent' heard of Spencer Day, he's one of the newer male vocalists whom I heartily recommend.
