Yes, JRand finally got his answer :)

DR JRand, do you think you will go?  It would be more fun if you waited and attended the Pacific Northwest show ;)

I haven't caught up.  Steve is much worse than I thought he would be.  I'll be surprised if he makes it to Friday when I go back up there.

Today was a disaster.  When I first arrived Squeaker the cat greeted me as always and went back to the bedroom.   A little while later Gretch went back to make the bed and found Squeaker dead on the bed.  He hadn't made a noise, nothing, he just died.  He was only 10 years old.  So after much distress and stressing over whether to tell Steve (he was very close to the cat but we don't think he'll notice, he doesn't really know what's going on) we all decided not to tell him.

They had planned to just take Squeak to the vet Monday to have him cremated, but I knew that was done at the Humane Society there.  I contacted the nearest Humane Society that is about 20-25 miles from there. We found out they were open today and then not again until Thursday!  So, a couple hours after he died,  Gretch said goodbye to him, and I took Squeaker to the Humane Society.  She'll get his ashes later this week.

It wasn't a day for comic relief.  I put the geyser stuff in my parents' garage and will do it next weekend

Oh, Cilla, I am so sorry.

That is so sweet of you.  I think Craig has a ton of errands to do, I will pass that on.  You mentioned friends having good vets.  I am about to email you their location in case one of your friends with a pet lives close by.

Bryan discovered an Original House of Pancakes in Chicago.  I'm glad he found it after our visit, I would only have been disappointed we didn't have time to go.  Of course that is silly as we have only been to the original Original House of Pancakes in Portland twice.

There's one not far from our house, DR Jane.  You could come here!

DR Ginny, I would love to make a visit to Michigan & you.  With my boys scattered now & our visits to L.A. I think that won't be happening in the near future. :(

I was watching the Blu Ray Disc of TWILIGHT.  I have not read the books....but it sure was a slow boat to China.  Nothing much appealing to me about any of the actors.  Kind of a by the numbers thing.....I might watch the rest of it someday....when I have nothing else to do.  I gather it pleased the fans and I am happy for them -

I don't know that it pleased the fans.

I know i am a big fan of the books and i only thought the movie was okay. There was so much more they could have done IMO.

HOWEVER a lot of the fans are kids. My niece for example is 14 and she has read the books. And her and her little friends love the actors and the movie (i did not like most of the casting).

(hi DR Jennifer)

:)

Hi. And i'm still starving and did not do any exercise today.

I can't figure out if my body has just not caught up on eating. But i am confused.

When i've been hungry i've eaten (except not after 7pm). And i go to sleep hungry and wake up hungry. It is definitely peculiar!

Thanks DR Jennifer.

Some foods can make you hungrier than others.  I should but don't pay attention to those.  Drinking water fills a hungry stomach ;)

My sister took my niece to the circus today while my mom and i watched the baby.

They were gone 4 1/2 hours. And by the end i was sitting outside with her on my lap waiting for her meal truck to arrive.

She was so hungry. And she does not like her bottle. Although i think it helped a bit.

Poor kid sitting outside waiting for mommy to feed her. But she was happy out there. She likes being outside.

Managed to finish GOTTERDAMMERUNG.  Oy and vey, and also vey and oy.  Also did my next to last review for DVDTalk today, a completely charming film I especially recommend to BK, as I think it may remind him quite a bit of the Kritzer books.  It's a British film, directed by Paul Weiland, called "66" (or alternatively "Sixty Six," and no, I'm not kidding), starring Helena Bonham Carter.  She plays the mother of a little boy who has the misfortune to have his Bar Mitzvah on the day in 1966 that England for the one and only time made the World Cup Finals in soccer.

I then made the mistake of starting 10,000 B.C. in Blu Ray....another movie I will probably never finish watching.

I really never had any interest in either one of those, and after reading your comments, it seems my instincts were right. I might give TWILIGHT a try once it shows up on paycable, but definitely won't think about a Blu-ray rental or purchase unless I like what I see on cable.

I spent the next 190 minutes this afternoon with the third (and thankfully) last part of THE HUMAN CONDITION. It has been an interesting saga, but I rather regret it devolved into extreme melodrama by the last half hour. I kind of lost patience with it near the end going to its extremes and stretching everything out to agonizing lengths.

I'll trade you THE HUMAN CONDITION for the Staatskapelle Weimar RING CYCLE any day of the week.  :)

No thanks. I did not find my time wasted in the least. I just wish the last half hour had been up to the quality of the rest of the work.

When I went back down, I watched the bonus features on disc four in THE HUMAN CONDITION set. Not very many frankly. I did enjoy seeing the extremely handsome leading man now and comparing the way he looked then to now. He's aged very well.

My arm started aching a bit tonight, so I once again sought out a comfort film, one seen many times but is pure pleasure in the viewing.

So, I put on SINGIN' IN THE RAIN. Had such a good time with it.

Next I watched another episode of LIE TO ME, the first episode on disc two in the Blu-ray set. Not a great episode. Neither case quite grabbed me like some of the previous ones have.

Until I was ready to start watching TRUE BLOOD, I scanned through the Daytime Emmys and saw some of the winners: Best Talk Show, Best Talk Show/Information, Best Supporting Actress, Best voice performer, Best Direction staff. I'll scan through the remainder of them tomorrow.
