Next, I watched my work disc for the day, Roman Polanski's masterpiece REPULSION. I guess I had seen the whole thing. Since it was done in 1965 in England, it couldn't be overly graphic, but therein lies part of its genius since it's SO much more effective if we don't see every slash, every bash in extreme close-up as it's done nowadays.
And Catherine Deneuve so young and drop dead gorgeous in this (and so psychotic)! She said in the commentary this was her third film, (or was it she had made three films prior to this). Anyway, this must have established an international reputation for her. She should have won all sorts of awards for it.
