Back from a nice brunch at Todai.

They have the greatest deserts there and, in the words of the late Lou Costello, "I was a bad boy!"

Isn't

"If you need New Year's to bubble,
then order a double
and wait"

from "It's Todai"?

Hope everyone had a fine New Year's Eve and that BK feels better after his fall

I just learned that George & Ira [Gershwin] are buried not too far from where I live.  I'll have to pay them a visit, one of these days.

Just got the source material for what will hopefully be an upcoming Kritzerland limited edition CD - perhaps in March - it will need a bit of cleanup, but my mastering guy is really good at that - if he does what I hope he can, this will be a wonderful release.

I expect breathless "exclusively told to me" details to be posted at a certain A&M site within seconds.  ;)

Good evening!  I went to Benjamin Button this afternoon.  It was supposed to start at 1:10PM and at 1:20 it hadn't started yet.  A room full of people and no one wondered about this???? So I got up and went out and asked about it.  They didn't realize that no one had started the movie. By the time I got back to my seat the previews came on.

I enjoyed the movie.  I haven't read the F. Scott Fitzgerald short story that it's based on, but I have read The Confessions of Max Tivoli which is similar and a book that really stuck with me after I read it.

My New Year's Resolution is to leave the issues and people who have a negative impact on me back in 2008 and have a positive outlook this year.

I also want to continue the weight loss etc that I've begun, but I consider that a part of being positive and I think I have a better chance to keep my resolution if I don't get too specific about it

I also stopped at Home Depot after the movie and picked up a couple of their heavy duty plastic shelving units for my store room. I have too much on the floor in there and I'm concerned that if the plumbing fix goes bad it could all get wet. SO, one more thing to do over the weekend.

I didn't take the cabinet down, it's too solid. I did take off the hardware and a little shelf rail that was on it.  I also took down the towel bars and won't be putting two of them up again.  How many towel bars to you need in a tiny bathroom?  So, I hope to get the paint going this weekend

...We used to have this restaurant here that i adored (it's closed now) called Chi Chis. They had amazing fried ice cream. And they used to have 1/2 priced margaritas a few days a week.
They also had the largest outbreak of Hepetitis A in US history.  Four people died, and nearly 700 people became ill because of the disease, which was linked to food Chi-Chi's served.  No wonder the chain never recovered from bankruptcy.

I wonder if it was part of the US chain. I didn't think this one was. But i'm not positive.

Oh-My-Gosh  my first Rose parade with HD!  It's soooo beautiful!   It's like I'm there!

I vow that someday, I will see the Rose parade in person.

Plan carefully, if you do go.

The parade route along Colorado Blvd. is a zoo, starting at least 24 hours before the actual parade, with revelers blocking the sidewalk as the camp out for their viewing places.  I mean, it is literally mobbed.  If you want to do the parade this way, make sure you're with a good band of co-revelers, and plan on a long, chilly and noisy night.

The other option is to book ahead, paying for seats in the grandstands (set up weeks in advance), and also for a hotel room nearby.  Pricey.

You might be better off staying right where you are, watching the event via your HD television.

If it was Chi-Chi's, it was part of the chain.  Which went belly up.  Terminal illness.

The name Chi-Chi's continues, however, on supermarket shelves.  Hormel uses the name, which it bought the rights to from the original company, for it's salsas and chiles.
