DR GINNY now that you are retired, prepare to be busier than ever.  For me, one of the best things about it is being able to shop during non-peak hours.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that and to school resuming on Monday.  During the two big shopping trips I've done lately, Kroger has been overrun with whole families shopping together.

Jose, I enjoyed your monkey photos. Kinda like Swedish Chef Hat. Hmm, Swedish Chef Hat hasn't gone anywhere lately. We should do something about that.

I just hope that some day my monkey and your Swedish Chef Hat can meet up for an adventure all their own. :)

Who knew the mayor of Pasadena is from Sioux City, IA....I didn't until just now

Wondered if you caught that, DR Cillaliz.  We watched the whole parade on HGTV and are now watching Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl.  Rob and Mary Linda have some fellow Bearcats coming this evening for an Orange Bowl par-tay.  I've made dill dip for veggies, taco dip, and a cheese ball, and the chili is in the crock pot

Everything is closed here today.

So TOP CHEF marathon. And reading.

And i still have not watched the first 2 episodes of MTV's THE CITY online yet.

We had the "Top Chef" marathon last week. However, today Bravo (USA) is having "The Biggest Loser" marathon.  Sort of complementary programming. ;)

Good Morning.  To quote the great Jonathan Larson "It's gonna be a Happy New Year".  The DP and I hung out with some friends last night and neither of us thought to bring our laptops, so we missed the festivities here at HHW.  But I'm all caught up.  Glad everyone had a good party.

DR Elmore, Tell Mr Pomahac I'm a big fan of all he does.  He latest interview with Robert Viagas on the Playbill Radio podcast was fun and informative.

Today, going to visit Mom, which sounds like a big deal, but really it isn't!  The DP is going to make Chicken and waffles for dinner, a first for me.

My Mac is having a hard time with pdf files. When I try to download one to my desktop  from an email I get this message: pdf could not be saved because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to a different location.

Have you tried going to a different room?  :-)

My Mac is having a hard time with pdf files. When I try to download one to my desktop  from an email I get this message: pdf could not be saved because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to a different location.

This has just started occurring and I wonder if it's due to one of my software updates? Things seemed to be fine before I went away.

DR elmore - There does seem to be some sort of glitch with incoming PDF files lately.  After the last Adobe Reader update, I started to get the "Can't find program to open file".  So, I have to manually select Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the file.

Have you tried selecting a PDF file in a Finder window, then...

File -> Open With ->

Adobe Reader and/or Acrobat should be the default Application.  If it's not, just Enable it via the drop down menus.  That may fix things.

Easy for you!

As for the Topic of the Day... Well... I know what I need to work on, and, well, I just know. :)

However...

Last week, I decided to step on the scale for the first time in a few weeks. A couple of people had noticed that I had lost some weight.  Really?  Well, lo and behold, I had lost (another) seven pounds!  :)  -Of course, after last night's Mexican and margarita fest, well...

Wife Sandy is overwhelmed by all the birthday wishes, and she thanks each and every one of you.

We will be going to our local Todai today for her birthday sushi feast.

 :)

I'm sure it's Todai for.

Well, I almost NEVER imbibe alcohol - but yesterday was an exception... and even the smallest shot of Absolute vodka made my head spin. Another head-spinner was some bites of probably the most luscious and delicious fresh mozzarella I think I have ever tasted!!

As Dorothy Parker once said, "One more drink and I'll be under the host."

I love that!!

Hmmph, depends on the host.

DR Matthew - Hmm.... Chicken and Waffles!  Just remember: maple syrup, a dash or two of Tabasco and a generous sprinkling of toasted pecans!  :)

I resolve to have a more positive attitude about my current documentary, to continue the weight-loss momentum begun last year, use my time more constructively, spend more time with family and friends, and finally...have a party in our new house!

Just stepped on the scale. Oy...

Not to worry!  Due to the axis of the earth, everything weighs five pounds more on New Year's Day.

(So, please be careful grabbing a kleenex today)
