Edith has decided that we will be doing some fast walking every noon.  She stopped me this noon as she was heading out the door and said we were going to walk for 10 minutes on the skywalks.  It turned out to be 12 minutes and since she's in good shape it was a fast pace, just right for me, I could talk and walk but any faster and I would have been winded.   With her pushing me, I may really do this.  The next step will be by November 1 - no elevators unless in heels or carrying something. We'll see, but it's a good goal

Secondly - You forgot the crab meat (fake or real stuff) in the California Roll.  And the tobiko or masago is not traditional, or it's only added if the roll is made "inside out" with the rice on the outside.  I usually prefer black sesame seeds on the outside.  *Of course, the "California Roll" itself is not of Japanese origin, so...

So, Mr. Larry Moore, do you know which version of Sound of Music Rodgers & Hammerstein sends out? Do they send the old version and the new version or just the new version? I got the Rebecca Luker revival CD at Academy today and the show has both of Max's songs. Should I also get Miss Martin's version. I know they have made changes to the show working movie songs and scenes into the show but are the changes enough that things surrounding Max are substantially different?

DR Ben - I believe R&H only sends out the original version of the show. At least that's what it looks like from their website listing.

When SOUND OF MUSIC was done here last season, the director, who is a friend of mine, said that the show came with Max's songs, but it also had SOMETHING GOOD, instead of ORDINARY COUPLE.

TOD - and now for something completely different.  I learned to make these sandwiches from my mom:

Shred a pile of sharp (or medium) cheddar cheese and mix with a bottle of chili sauce.  Add chopped ripe olives.  Fill hot dog buns with the mixture and wrap them in pairs in foil.  Chill.  When ready to eat, heat in a 375^o oven until filling is heated through.

Great to make ahead and have on hand when you're going to be busy.

Ginny, since regional factors sometimes apply, what in your book constitutes chili sauce?

I got them as stocking stuffers for the Grandlads, and they do work!

I used to have an MP3 recorder.  It could record up to 8 hours before the rechargable battery died, and could hold up to 40 hours (I think)!  I got it on eBay.  It was about $150, but definitely worth it! The one I have now actually records as .wav files, but the file sizes are comparable to MP3 files of the same length.  I have to convert these to PCM .wav files to be able to edit them or burn them to a CD, so it's more complicated than just having the MP3 recorder.

There used to be this little place on Hwy 17 in Jersey (I think around Mahwah) that served a terrific Texas sauce on their hot dogs.
