Oh, DR Jane, I'm sorry to hear that.  What's the prognosis?

Oooh, isn't that sweet department:  Why, some thoughtful person has subscribed me to Fox News Alerts for my birthday.  I just wonder who that might have been.  ;)
Maybe it's all the news you'll ever want or need about babe-alicious chicks, you salacious devil you!!!

Happy birthday!

Cillaliz, these chinchy bassas kept a lot of us from going for walks early in the morning (the only time to walk) that summer. One of their victims was killed about a mile from here.

Thank you DRs Cilla & Ginny.  Keith just got off the phone with Falcon, the local company he purchased the computer from.  They will give him a new memory card for the computer.  Hopefully that will fix it & all will be well again.  They are calling Keith back in the morning.  Fingers crossed.

Good Evening!

I did indeed end up taking a nice, healthy walk earlier... All the way to 91st Street from 145th, and then back again.

-And there's definitely quite a "nip" in the air tonight.

DR Ron Pulliam - As per your earlier query... Leftovers: a bowl of the chicken, spinach and white bean stew I made last night which I splashed with some extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkled with some bacon, lardons, if you will.  And a whole wheat roll I picked up during my earlier perambulations.

I'm anticipating receipt of "The Happening" and volume 2 of the "Alice Fay Box" in today's UPS delivery!

Hmm... I'm looking forward to what you think of "The Happening".  -And that's all I'm saying for now.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Rolls Pop?
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Rolls Pop?

I Guess It Depends OnThe Heat Of The Tongue

In that case, singdaw would win ALL the contests!

Now... If the tongue were never to lose contact with the Tootsie Roll Pop, technically, one could get to the center with one long(!) lick.

I decided to get a subscription to Bon Apetit for my waiting room.  The day the second issue came the mailman came up and asked me to take it out of the plastic, that he had looked for one of the subscription forms in my first issue (it wasn't sealed) but he didn't see any fall out.  So, I got one for him.  Since then two other people have subscribed because it was in my office.  Good heavens who knew I would start a run on Bon Apetit.

Sad news to report: Actor Robert Arthur has passed away. I remember him best in the teen film YOUNG AND WILD (1958) opposite my good friend Carolyn Kearney. He certainly was a lot older then I thought...he played teenagers right up into his mid 30s!

I played with teenagers until I was in my mid 30's.

And DR MBarnum didn't start playing with octogenarians until he was in his mid 30's.

I watched TWENTIETH CENTURY on TCM tonight.  I had never seen it, and it was very funny.  John Barrymore and Carole Lombard were terrific as were all the supporting players....

DR CILLA LIZ, how did it go in court today?

As expected.  The judge ran his 2- 10 yr and 1-5 year sentences all consecutively. So he got 25 years.  He could have had a mandatory minimumof 5 years, but the prosecutor didn't put it in the trial information and the issue of whether there was a dangerous weapon didn't go to the jury, so he has no minimum.  The way it works in Iowa is he can be paroled from one sentence to the next before the first expires.  My guess is he'll do less than 10 years.
