LUCKY STIFF

I love that show!   :D   And of course our very own bk produced the cast album.

And I have never seen it, nor heard the score.

I LOVED Lucky Stiff! It's as much fun as The Brain from Planet X.

Does anyone own, or have they seen, the 1980 series, HAMMER'S HOUSE OF HORRORS?  Oldies.com has the four disc set for $16.97, but I don't know anything about the series.

Well, I took a trip down memory lane -- over the shredder. Stuff that went back to when I moved out of my parents' house in 19xx.

I like the fact that the reply area now has Spell Check.  That should do a great deal of good for derBrucer's and Matt H.'s blood pressure.

My favorite question of the day came by phone:  "How do pickles grow - on trees or in the ground?"  When I explained that one grows cucumbers and then makes them into pickles, the person asked, "So, how to they get the stems on?"

It won't help posters who use "effected" when they mean "affected".

Lol!

This brings to mind a True Life Adventure from my relative youth.  One of my sisters was a Tupperware saleswoman in SLC and I was helping her set up a "house party" (or whatever the hell they're called).  One of her guests showed up early and started looking through the items and asked what something was.  "Pickle tongs," my sister replied.  "What are they for?" asked the somewhat dimwitted woman.  "Oh, they're for picking pickles off of pickle bushes," I said.  "Oooooh!," replied the woman, suitably impressed.

I just received three very sweet and unexpected birthday cards in the mail, including one from our very own Singdaw.  Thank you, Singdaw, you are now absolved for your unseemly murder of JRE or JER or whoever the hell it was you killed for his lovely stationery.  ;)

Jane, just bookmark the new discussion page:

Thanks, I was talking about past problems, not only from the current change.  I have the discussion page bookmarked, not the column since I only go to that once a day & the discussion page multiple times a day.

I know many of you will find this hard to believe, but I have been mediating a huge meltdown between the J swimteam and the YMCA swimteam, which uses the J as its practice facility.  There were a slew of emails this morning about a personality conflict which was rapidly escalating into a threatened lawsuit.  I made a few calls, got everyone calmed down and now have the parties talking to each other.  Just another day at the office.

In a sort of funny aside, the CEO of the J initially misstated her email address to me, so I forwarded a very inflammatory email from the Y's coach to some poor unassuming Jew out there.  :)

Breakfast this morning with DRs Ben, edisaurus, elmore and myself was a truly splendid occasion. A Good Breakfast at Good Stuff Diner with Good People and Good Friends. And, yes, there was lots of Good Dish too!  ;)

I did get a good picture of the group which I shall post once I'm back home later this afternoon.

*Alas, DR singdaw was sidelined today by his allergies, and DR FJL was also kept away due to work commitments, but they were missed. And were talked about in absentia. Although, now that I think of it, I don't think anyone should have had any reasons for their ears burning this morning.

Are you really asure about that last comment?  Hmmmmm?

I was really bummed about missing the NYC HHW breakfast this morning.

I am feeling a teeny tiny degree better.  Which isn't saying a whole lot.

Did your ears burn?

But it does provide you with another chance to point out other DRs' faults.

I've come from I Come For Love, a NYMF musical spoof of Plan Nine From Outer Space and the like, with cheesy special effects, teen romance, a military dude and, Wait!  Haven't I seen this before?

It's similar to The Brain From Planet X in its form, aspirations, spirit, length, low-tech effects, tunefulness...

And everything about Brain was substantially better.  It's not that it's a rip-off; it's that it isn't nearly as good.

I will only say that I was, of course, taken aback at a handful of the similarities, especially when the authors told me they'd seen and really liked The Brain at LACC.

I'm sure as the days go by we'll discover other good things about this updated software - I, for one, love that there are no more ads that I didn't want or care about.  The spell check is another nice feature.  Plus, to my eyes, the avatars look better.

They called me once asking for possible musical directors and I gave them some names. I never heard from them again. They did call DR Jose last week because they had lost their MD and wanted to know if he could come in and take over.

I'd actually recommended both elmore and Jose early on, when I met with them several months ago.

TOD - There's a bakery here in DR Elmore's hometown called Central Pastry that makes wonderful cakes.  Our wedding cake was from there and my current favorite is their orange chiffon cake.

My favorite restaurant cake is no longer available.  The Grande Finale, in Glendale (north of Cincinnati), used to make a banana walnut torte, but took it off the menu several years ago.
