TOD:
DVDs:
ALL SHOOK UP - handmade, OBC, Oh! that Cheyenne Jackson! And that arrangement of "Can't Help Falling In Love." But. . .what an over-written, over-plotted piece of fluff. Compared to this, Elvis' own TICKLE ME and HARUM SCARUM are film masterpieces!
REEFER MADNESS - Not JMK's, alas, but the Showtime movie with Alan Cumming and Christian Campbell. I think it's a lot of fun, quite well done, and I've never, ever been a pothead!
SAAWARIYA - gorgeous Sony/Bollywood film based on Dostevsky's short story "White Nights."
MURDER IN PORTLAND - one of those Pacific Nortwest movies. . .though this one is actually better than the previous ones, still nothing great. I now can state that the bars in Portland, Seattle and Olympia are very nice.
WHOEVER SAYS THE TRUTH SHALL DIE - competent documentary on the life and death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, which addresses the issue of his murder effectively, though doesn't offer a quick solution.
IN THE DVDs TO BE BURNED PILE:
DAMES AT SEA - CBS-TV presentation: Ann-Margret, Ann Meara, Ann Miller.
ONCE UPON A MATTRESS - CBS-TV presentation, 1964, the one and only original - minus "Happily Ever After" but with a new duet for Dauntless and Winnifred.
SHE LOVES ME - BBC-TV presentation. Gemma Craven, David Kernan and very few alterations to the score or book.
CDs:
GYPSY (2008) - Barnes & Noble edition.
REEFER MADNESS - TV Soundtrack; Love Robert Torti's "Listen to Jesus, Jimmy."
BIG RIVER - Original Australian Cast. Ironically, this super-American musical is better off in the hands of the men Down Under.
THE COMPANY OF STRANGERS - Parker Scott. Perfect debut album.
