I wonder if that art was funded by the NEA?

Good Afternoon!

Well... It turned out that I had some work to catch up on over the past hour or so.  Phone calls, e-mails, faxes, etc.  And I was also reminded that I have a webisode taping tonight too.  Fun, fun, fun.

Wednesday afternoon greetings from our apartment, which is 5 floors above the Ed Sullivan Theatre!  When I look up from the computer, I have an eastward view along 53rd St.

Richard and I are about to go across the street for some lunch and then on some errands before Evening Prayer at St. Mary's and dinner with friends Doug & Jon.

Thank you, all, for the travel vibes.  They worked beautifully - we left Dayton a little early and had a flight that was smooth once we got above the remnants of Hurricane Fay.

Bye for now!

Gustav Floods Haiti, Kills 11 as It Threatens to Become Hurricane, Slam Gulf Coast

Category 3 going ashore at New Orleans by Monday afternoon?

Well, they can't say they weren't warned in time!

der Brucer

On a side note, many of the New Orleans residents have been unable to get Katrina relief aid because they are too illiterate to fill out the forms!

On another side note...  "too illiterate" - Isn't that sort of redundant?

And on another side note... That was an amazingly crass comment to make.  Have you sent your money in for Katrina Relief?  Have you volunteered to help those victims fill out the forms?

I have been listening to a recording of Dance a Little Closer.  Usually I really enjoy both Charles Strouse's and Alan Jay Lerner's work, but I must admit I find little of redeeming value here.  The recording features a post-Sweeney Len Cariou and Lerner's eighth wife, Liz Robertson.

Have you heard Jason Graae's version? I quite like it. It's on the You're Never Fully Dressed without a Smile CD.

And on those (side) notes...  Time for me to run around midtown for a couple of hours taking care of errands and such.

Laters...

Ugh! I've been giving my office a thorough cleaning. These old bones...BUT it's nice and clean now, albeit still a bit cluttered. Isn't EVERY office SUPPOSED to be cluttered?

Bruce, since it's "ask BK day" and since I missed the initial rehearsal of "Jersey Men," when are you going to stage the show in L.A. again? Mark had wonderful things to say about it and wished I could have seen it.

I was making a post, clicked "post" and the site went down.  I reported it and got one of the usual e-mails back, saying that I'm always the first one to report a problem when they're doing work on our server.  I don't understand this "work" that needs to be done during the day, but that's just me.  We're fine now.  As I was saying...

Back from the long jog.

That "crass comment" was a reporting of the news:

ASSOCIATED PRESS :KATRINA VICTIMS' ILLITERACY HAMPERS RECOVERY

I sent in money for Katrina relief- it's called Federal Income Tax.

The literacy problem is a local event that requires a local solution.

Glad to hear my luncheon partners are in town.

Let me know what time is good for you tomorrow. I'm very flexible. If you want to meet a bit early, say 11:30 or 11:45 we can beat the lunch rush at Chat and Chew. You know where I work so you don't need directions  ;D

See ya tomorrow!

Yes!  ;D   And that is one of the several songs from the score that I did enjoy.

We should be fine now.  I will shortly be on my way to lunch, then, when I return, I have to go to Staples, then on two errands, and then, finally, I'll be back home.

When "news" items are posted here, as they so often are, I think it only natural to expect some reaction/commentary from those who actually read them.
