Untried, but pending as it sounds dee-lish:

Mediterranean Orzo Salad

Ingredients
•   1 cup orzo uncooked
•   3 tablespoons red onion finely chopped
•   1 cup fresh tomatoes seeded and chopped
•   1/4 cup chopped celery
•   2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
•   2 tablespoons olives pitted and finely chopped
•   2 tablespoons capers
•   1 teaspoon grainy spicy mustard
•   1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
•   1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
•   2 tablespoons garlic oil
•   1/2 teaspoon salt
•   1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
•   3-1/2 ounces chevre cheese crumbled

Directions

1.  Bring a large quantity of water to a boil and cook orzo just until tender.
2.  Drain well and allow to cool then mix with onion, tomatoes, celery, basil, olives and capers.
3.  Whisk together mustard, sugar and vinegar then gradually beat in oil until emulsion forms.
4.  Pour vinaigrette over pasta mixture and season with salt and pepper then chill salad.
5.  When it is cold mix in the crumbled cheese and serve.

MattH, I believe TRAFIC was remade in the US as CRASH, if you've seen that one.  :)

DearReaderLaura DR, I am hoping that your new tag quote is not referring to DR Kerry's new purple cast!

I was referring to a misplaced ambulance bill. Which he had placed on the pie. Of course.

I must say when Green Day does melodic songs, they are very melodic indeed.

So I just found out that the petty vandalism is going to cost $500 in parts to repair.

If I could get away with it, I'd do a McGuire Sisters arrangement of "American Idiot," but I think the language might offend a few of my regular concertgoers.

"The Empty Hole", that's the title of a gestating novel.

Speaking of "American Idiotol", auditions are being held at the Cow Palace in San Francisco today.  They're expecting 15,000-20,000 hopefuls will be auditioning (for someone, not necessarily Randy, Paula and Simon).

JulieC, I'm not sure if you misunderstood me or I misunderstood you, but the QC call is between the temp service and the client.  You need to check with them to see if everything's "working out."  On a temp-to-hire situation, the SOP is to check in the first day, and then at the end of the first week, and if everything's fine by the end of the first week, usually you're home free.  What I bet happened is they weren't able to get through to whomever on your assignment on your first Friday, and then that scumbag (because that's obviously what they are, no?) called on Monday to complain and told them you needed to be replaced ASAP, hence your Staffing Coordinator showing up on your assignment, which is very unusual (at least it was back in the day).

Time -- actually over due -- to take Deuce for his morning "W" -- if you say walk, he starts barking. Adios!

That is so funny--that's exactly how we refer to walks here, except that BeeGee, who is preternaturally intelligent, now understands "W", so we have a number of euphemisms, like "cucumber" or "doorknob."   ;D

Miss Karen, the area I live in never floods. But US 60 in Tempe flooded and was closed for several hours Sunday. Mostly it's the roads that cross the drainage washes that flood that people like to drive into.

You might occasionally throw "window sill" into the mix, just to keep him off guard!

We can't even say phrases like "it's time for....", since he's figured out that's how "walkies" usually starts.  The dog is scary sometimes.   ;D

TOD - my DN(dear niece) Laura, whom some of you met when she accompanied me to Jewish Thighs on Broadway, makes a fantastic tuna pasta salad.  I think she uses the sea shell pasta.  In her recipe, and BK's, I'd have to replace the onions with celery.  Onions don't agree with me.

Richard is on his way home with lunch (a Subway tuna for me, natch), so I'm gonna sign off until we return from the torture chamber lab.

Bye for now!

Time for me to go work outside, so that I can return a bronzed god.

Or whatever.

Hasta.

It's 7:30 a.m., 86 degrees, and 57 percent humidity. I had a lovely, but slow, hike this morning.

It was F 60 degrees when I came in to work this a.m.  Lovely, cool, foggy morning.

Ahhh....the San Francisco Bay Area!

He knows what he wants and he knows when his "mind control" on you has worked.

You'll never outsmart him.

If you do, he'll piddle on your floor!

Now you're scaring me.  "Mind control" is the exact phrase we use to describe the dogs' power over us.  :)

Yes, we love our recipe days - at one point someone was going to compile them or at least send me the links and I was thinking about doing an haineshisway.com cookbook.

I'm laundered.  I'm showered.  I'm packed.  -And somewhat in that order.

And now I'm off again...

Back from a rough two-mile jog - my legs are really sore right now, but I slogged through it, getting a few new ideas for my little short story.
