Edi

I don headphones also when I am working on genealogy or some writing when my neighbors upstairs decide they want to yell their sexual enthusiasm to the world...

If I am really annoyed, I have a lovely wolf howl I like to play

DR Ron Pulliam - My interest in mountains was piqued when I first peeked at Pike's Peak as a youngster, but it peaked when I saw pictures of Mt. Fuji.

I think your piqued interest would be satisfied if you peeked at the peak on a trip with Picabo Street.

Has anyone here ever had experiences like that?

Yes---I was obsessed with going to Portmeirion, Wales, ever since I was in Jr. high school, and finally made it there years later. Once there, I realized that it was the combination of everything I loved---quirky architecture, breathtaking views, secret gardens, the whole mysterious atmosphere of it was everything I'd ever dreamed of and more.

While packing up the house, I found pictures taken when I went there with my DH back in '97. We showed our film at the London Latin America film festival and spent another wonderful week traveling through the Costwolds, Oxford, Ludlow and our ultimate destination, Portmeirion. I was happy when my DH said that he would like to go back there again!

I can't believe it, but I am only 20 pages from finishing "Gulliver's Travels." After that, I've got "Jane Eyre" lined up...a friend brought it to work for me this evening, so I have to read it next so I can return it to her post-haste. After that...??? I might give "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell" a second try. After reading the three Highsmith books in one volume, "Strange/Norrell" seems a bit less daunting now...

I have read your first two books & am currently working on Strange.  Strange it is & I still haven't made my mind up if I like it or not.

I hope by the time I catch up I will have read you are feeling better & have hot water.

Well, now, even I (an avowed cat non-lover) am getting worried about Freddy.

I will deal with you in NY, young lady. I hope we don't have to have words! ;D

DR Jason, enjoy "Jane Eyre", it's one of my favorites.

I even loove the Second city version, with Andrea Martin as "Jane Airhead", and Jack Benny's Rochester playing...Mr. Rochester!

Highly allergic, DR Edi, that's all!  In fact, the last time we were in NYC I was having an attack of allergy-induced asthma brought on by spending several hours in the company of a bookstore cat in Washington, DC.

I've heard they do that with babies.

 ;D

I have a bumper sticker that says "My cat sucked the breath out of your honor student" but I've never had the guts to put it on my car, for fear of being keyed by some honor student's parent!

Oh, OK. You are forgiven. I was about to state that you obviously had not met the "right" cat!

Edi I think your bumper sticker would only make hate-haters hate them more.  It is shocking how many people really do believe a cat will suck the air out of a baby.

Ron I haven’t felt as if I had been someplace in the past or had the same sort of connection you are talking about.  The closest I came to that was when I went with Keith to visit his grandparent’s graves.  Suddenly I was positive my grandparents were in the same cemetery, & there is no way I could have known this.  I asked at the front desk & discovered I was correct.  Interesting, we were very close to their graves when I had my sudden inspiration.

Cilla-My suggestion is very similar to Jennifers, only I toast my pita for more flavor.

Buy pita, spread both sides with olive oil, slice in triangles, and toast both sides in the oven.

Humus to go with that would be nice.  I have Bryan’s delicious recipe if you want I will hunt for it.  We have a local restaurant that makes delicious hummus or more often than not, I buy it.

The toasted pita is always a bit hit.

Good Afternoon!

Well, I guess I should get off my duff and do something today.  There's still some cleaning to do around here from last night's party - mainly the floors - but since it wasn't my party...  However, I don't mind mopping... and since I will probably re-clean the floor (properly) later... ;)

But, otherwise, I think I shall just get ready to head out, and... ???

Laters...
