How can it be a Romance novel without sex? Isn't that why you read them?

Is that what all that "quivering," "throbbing," "manhood," etc means in those tacky novels?  No wonder they're all my mother ever read!

Well, I got to bed around 2:30 and up at 8AM.  I feel like crap, but I'm extremely happy to be home.  In 30 minutes I shall collect two weeks of mail, which I'll lug home in shopping bags.  I hope there are no huge packages!

I'm glad The Brain partay was a success.  Don't I get a ton of complimentary CDs now?

Good Morning! Once Again!

Well, I believe I'm all set to head down to the Empire.  Mark didn't want to meet until 10:30, but I just checked AMC's site, and the event is sold out for today, so I think I'm going to try to get down there a little earlier just in case.  But before I go...

DR elmore - If you feel like you need a nap later today, take one.  :)

-Do you have any plans for tomorrow? Brunch? Lunch? Dinner? Etc?

DR edisaurus - As for the "Staudium Pal"... I think I shall pass on that one - no pun intended.  ;)

-They just remind of the cross-country car trips when I was a kid.  My parents, myself, and my three younger brothers in a yellow Ford Gran Torino with a black(!) interior - boy, was that fun going through the desert in Nevada.  :-\  We would sometimes stay in a motel or hotel for the night, but most of the time we would end up pulling into a rest area, and my parents would set up the "Car-mada Inn".  And we would never throw out Coke bottle during the trip... If you get my drift... And I think you do.

OK - I should get going.  Mark and I will be treating ourselves to a post-movies meal somewhere in midtown after our viewing extravaganza today, so I probably won't be back here until well past midnight (EST).

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.  And for those of you dealing with wintry weather and other hazards today, Be Safe, Be Careful.

Happy Saturday everyone. Right now I am in stage one of my hair dying process. That is bleaching out the roots of my pink streak. Step two is re-pinking. Fascinating, I know.

Last weekend I saw two movies: Pan's Labyrinth and Music and Lyrics. Pan was the single most violent and disturbing movie I have seen in quite a while.  M&L was cute and fluffy as I expected it would be. Drew Barrymore looked quite lovely and it was nice to see broadway vets Matthew Morrieson and Jason Antoon on screen.

Today I am going to dance class and then to bed bath and beyond for a new iron and assorted other household items. Then possibly tonight to a dance thing at NYU. Maybe I can squeeze in a movie...

DR TPunk, repinking didn't scare me off - I was just away from the computer where I'm logged on.  We've only been open an hour here and I've already needed some of your social worker skills.

But it did have *crafting* in it. Remember the "sewing scene"?  ;D

I'm glad I'm going into Atlanta today for SISTER ACT. All I can hear here are the sounds of chainsaws and dozens of large earth movers.

DR Edi, maybe it'll be dark by the time you get home and you won't have to see the results right away.  Have fun at the show!

Good morning!

Gorgeous day here with temperatures a bit more normal: highs in the upper 50s. I have a good bit of movie watching to do today, however, so I won't be partaking of much of the fresh air and sunshine that's available.

They're doing that Oscar marathon at a theater here, too, but it's a 45 minute drive from my house and I decided against doing it even though I haven't seen any of the films. Of course, SUNSHINE, DEPARTED, and (maybe) BABEL are available on DVD now. I just haven't bothered to rent any of them. They'll be on my pay channels soon enough.

Oscar predictions don't really require that you see the movies since often quality isn't as important as notoriety, publicity, sentiment, buzz, and numerous other things.

Anyway, here are some reasonable guesses:

Best Picture - THE DEPARTED
Best Director - Martin Scorsese
Best Actor - Forest Whitaker
Best Actress - Helen Mirren
Best Supporting Actor - Alan Arkin
Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Hudson

The results are already in. At this point, it's just the noise! And it's only going to get worse when they start showing up at 6AM with their nailguns and circular saws.

(Singing) We gotta get out of this place!
