Oh, the play is a jewel. Unfortunately, the production of which I saw the first half last night featured--at best--amateurish acting and a concept that did the play no justice. Resetting the play in London of the "go-go" 1960s made the characters' manners completely anachronistic. The female roles were played by men, as advertised. The costumes were the least of the problem, though I do hope to never again see Lady Bracknell costumed in a white pant suit. The worst aspect of the what I saw was that a.) the female roles were not masculinized but b.) the men playing them did very little to feminize their characters' behavior. The most egregious element in the whole mess was Miss Prism's dark Fu Manchu moustache, a reflection not only of the director's poor judgment but also the actor's questionable sense of personal fashion.

Must have been a zoned insert (Valley and Westside.) Here in Pasadena we did not receive the insert.

C'mon folks, lets' do some fancy postin' here. I'm still working away at a huge mess caused by moving some things around in my tiny abode - so I can't stay for long.
Problem: I've got my "new" TV all wired up - but the audio is terrible when I try to record and then play back on the VCR. Any thoughts out there?

I like the decor at Joe Allen's, but am always disappointed with the food. Like Jose, I prefer Rachel's and Pietrosanto, although they both can seem a little crowded for a party of six. I'm not a fan of Chinese Food in general, but the Ollie's that's near me has been closed for renovation for a while, and, given the requirements of vegetarians, I thought Ollie's or good ol' West Side Cottage II were good ideas. The class I'm teaching at 7 that night is at Ripley-Greer, I think, 8th Avenue between 36th and 37th. Actually, it's unwise to change these plans based on my tastes because I hardly like anything.

No. More a function of the notion that many Pasadenans would not consider venturing to the west side to see a play, just as many west siders thinks the eastern edge of L.A. is La Brea Avenue.

A question of Etiquette, DRs... I made an interesting discovery while cleaning out the drawer of the hutch I gave to the handyman who carted away my old TV... A portfolio of nude drawings done by an artist friend of mine around 30 years ago. She asked me to pose for her -- and I did. The drawings are quite good. I suppose I should frame one or two. But what would Emily Post say? Is it rude to have nude drawings of oneself on the wall?

I've many stories about my 5-year-old neice, whom some of you have heard in her featured role as the Flower Girl in Out Wedding - The Musical ( www.WeddingMusical.com )

She seems to take after me, and, on a car trip last fall, was insisting they all sing the complete score to My Fair Lady. In all likelihood, she sang all the songs in order. But, there came a point where nobody in the car could remember any song they hadn't yet sung. And then my neice piped up "Oh, we haven't done the one that goes Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn!"

Not sure how to answer that. You'll have to post them here to get answers. Otherwise, I'm off to tarnation.

Miss Post probably never had to confront such a dilemma. Since you say they are quite good, I say frame them and hang them.....in your boudoir. And not in the dining room.

Off to the Hollywood Bowl for me, for my last concert there this season. The evening has been promoted as "A Night at the Moulin Rouge," as in the Parisian nightclub, not the Baz Luhrman film. Authentic can-can dancers and fireworks are on the program. Report later.

Panni, I agree with D.R. Jay. If you like them, then by all means, hang them up. But I say if they're tasteful drawings (which I would assume is the only kind of you'd pose for), go ahead and show them! Great art should not be stuck in a folder in a drawer.

Is your friend a known artist or a very good amateur? If she's become a known artist, then maybe you have a find!

She wound up becoming- of all things - a lawyer! For a time she was, I believe, the right hand woman of the Premiere of Ontario.
So - unless I want to blackmail her - I don't think there's money in this.
