The Belasco isn't the only place with a water leak. This morning, I heard a tiny little fizz coming from the kitchen while I was reading my book in the living room, and I came to find out the water hose piping water into the refrigerator had rung a couple of teeny, tiny pin prick leaks, not a disaster since I was here to cut off the water, but what if this had happened when I was in NYC last week! I would have had a flooded house by the time I got back.

Believe you me, I have been thanking my lucky stars all morning over that astounding piece of luck.

Once Upon a Mattress will be yet another television travesty - directed by a non-director, with awful camerawork and a leading lady who is at least thirty-five years to old to play the leading role (IF the press release has got that correct). I don't care how brilliant Miss Ullman is, she's wrong as can be for the part, just as Glenn Close was wrong as can be for Nellie Forbush.

In other news: As per ususal, our official press release was sent to talkin' broadway for posting on their West Coast board. They post ALL official press releases, and I do mean all. Well, not quite all. They haven't posted ours. The excuse? She's been so busy. So busy that she's just posted a whole new batch of them which still doesn't include ours. If one of you wanted to go over there, visit the West Coast board and post that you're surprised this hasn't been mentioned but that there's a cool-sounding new musical revue being done at the Hudson, and then providing some info or a link to the playbill article (best) that would be swellegant. These people and their agendas.

I like Tracey Ullman okay. I think I'm most disappointed though because they announced for so long that Marissa would play the Princess. And I thought that would be an interesting choice.

Does anybody know why they dumped her?

And I agree, Tracey seems too old. She looks and acts her age.

Today starts a long string of over-booked days prior to the two performances at the Triad August 8 & 10. There won't be a single day off, although I'm not doing a great amount of work tomorrow.

My Second City class has a performance Sunday, and I travel to teach at the 10th annual Improv Retreat a week from tomorrow.

Not sure if I'll be able to keep up with you all during this period.

Loved this week's Allison Hayes photo. I don't always, but this week was especially good.

I used to be a big fan of the Disney Channel when they programed some Disney material. Now it has become the tweenage girl channel and even the middle of the night Classic Disney stuff is gone. Years ago it was a pay channel and worth every penny I paid. Now that it is part of basic cable there is nothing of interest to watch. And don't get me started on Radio Disney...

Also tres amusing: Within ten minutes of my posting about talkin' broadway, they posted this HUGE list of what's currently playing in LA and about to open in LA - we are buried DEEP within that list - well, they can't say they didn't post the info now, even though it wasn't our "official" press release (as I said, they've posted at least seven "official" press releases in the last five days, none of them ours).

RLP - MR BK wrote about the demise of the DVD Place a few days ago....

derBrucer - actually there was a planned sequel for Attack of the 50 Foot Woman sometime around 1960, but it never came off. I think a script was written but that is as far as it went. Allison was all for it - but it didn't happen.

From what I read last night, it seems that Marissa is too booked to be able to do Mattress and withdrew herself. It's a shame cuz I thought she would make an interesting Winifred. Not that Ullman won't be capable, but, as DR Panni has just said, she's too old to be able to pull this off on film.

IMHO (internet lingo!), Stephanie D'Abruzzo would have been a good alternative to Winokur.
