Our ABC affiliate is having all sorts of technical problems, but only during Ugly Betty. The commercials seem to have no problem.  ARG<>

:o NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, there won't be a problem when it's broadcast on the west coast. :-\

Has anybody read about this new cruise ship that is coming to Royal Caribbean next year.  It is called the Oasis of the Seas, and it is probably the most unique new ship I have ever seen.  For example, this drawing below is in the center of the ship (where you would normally find the inside cabins) and it called Central Park, complete with trees and shrubs and flowers.  You might never know that you left port!

Keith's uncle was telling us about it.  Thanks for the photo.

DR MBarnum, DC Molly’s jewelry is very pretty.  I especially like Golden Bamboo, 2 looks in one, & Copperhead.  Unfortunately the last thing I need is another necklace.

Speaking of necklaces (those are lovely, MBarnum)...at work, we're having a fund-raiser spaghetti feast and silent auction on Monday for a co-worker whose (adult) daughter died from brain cancer. :'( Another co-worker has made a necklace (it's beautiful) and donated it for a raffle item and we've been given a hand-made quilt as another raffle item.  People have also donated quite a few silent-auction items.  My sister gave me several things and so far, most things that have been put out already, have gotten bids!  And over $400 in cash has been donated. :) The daughter was in a clinical trial in Texas to test a new drug (I think), but it didn't work for her. :( It's a small dent in the medical bills that were racked up, but it's a dent.

Apparently, there was a demonstration about the bailout today in Hollywood and from what I heard on the local radio news they were saying exactly what I said in my rant earlier.

I supped at Louise's and I'm so full right now.  I had the half Louise's salad, which is not small but not as large as a large, I had one piece of bread (no butter), and I had the half order of their penne bolognese, which was excellent.  So, given the long jog and the fact that it was my only food of the day, I'm thinkin' I'm fine.  It really wasn't that much pasta and it was a red sauce with not that much pork and beef.

The bailout is still evolving but however it evolves the result will be the same - the rich guys get richer and no one else benefits.  The stupidity and volatility of these Wall Street manipulators should get what they deserve.  They are the ones who have caused a major portion of this.

I was able to watch several more episodes of FRIDAY THE 13th. I have four left in the set. The last disc also has some sort of promotional pitch to stations who might have chosen to buy it.

I also finished CSI: NY from last night. It was a GREAT season premiere for the show. Lots of surprises and a wonderful guest performance from Elias Koteas.

I enjoyed UGLY BETTY's season premiere very much. I was dreading the thought of enduring Daniel's little jerky kid for the season, but looks like that's going to be toned down. Lindsay Lohan isn't much of an actress.

According to the news, the bailout deal has indeed fallen through.

I have just returned from seeing the DON GIOVANNI dress rehearsal at the Met with our DR Jose, whose a wonderful opera-going companion.  I liked the cast, but I'm still wondering why actress Marthe Keller thinks she's an opera director.  And why the Met thought she was right for Mozart.

And then I watched the two-hour GREY'S ANATOMY premiere. My goodness, lots of guest stars: Bernadette Peters, Kathy Baker, Mariette Hartley (in a really difficult part), Cliff DeYoung, and the introduction of the ever-gorgeous and hunky Kevin McKidd to the show.

But I hate the dye job they've given him! His strawberry blonde hair from ROME and JOURNEYMAN would have been so much more natural looking and attractive than this rusty red they've come up with.

Good Evening!

As DR elmore mentioned, we attended the dress rehearsal of Don Giovanni at The Metropolitan Opera earlier tonight.  Even though it was the final dress, it was nice to see - well, to hear - that none of the singers were marking tonight.  There were some truly beautiful voices filling that hall.  As for the production itself, well, I'm still questioning some of the choices made by the director, and there were a few moments where I couldn't tell if something had gone wrong technically or if what I saw was on purpose.  ;)

One of the "entertainment companies" I work for every now and then will be handling the shows for that ship.  So, there's a chance I may get to see "Central Park" for myself sometime next year.  :)

DR MattH - "Friday the 13th: The Series" did get better as it went along.  I think it was during the second (or third?) season where they had this great multi-episode arc built around possession and Jack the Ripper.  Some truly scary moments.
