Yes, the radio show is still here.  Donald does go off on long jaunts from time to time - is there a current show up?  I'll send him an e-mail and see what's up.

Okay, here's a (potentially embarrasing) question:  what does AIP mean? :-\

American International Pictures, Sam Arkoff and James Nicholson's distribution company, which released the film in the US.

Episode one of Five Days is superb.  Riveting.  Must watch episode two now.  The whole thing is six hours so I don't know if I'll finish this evening.

Bruce, since it's "ask BK day" and since I missed the initial rehearsal of "Jersey Men," when are you going to stage the show in L.A. again? Mark had wonderful things to say about it and wished I could have seen it.

Amy

We're looking at venues (I'll see one tomorrow evening), and when we choose one we'll set the date, probably in late October/early November.

Are you and Mark coming to our LACCTAA events - cheap and really good.

Well, I'm leaving work.  I have a coupon for a local pizza place (Brewery City Pizza) and it expires tomorrow, so I'm going out tonight for some pizza.  It's good...and I'll have more than enough to take home and have tomorrow. :D

About halfway through the meal, a couple was seated at the booth right next to us (and butted up right against our booth).  The guy was a real character and was staring at the kishka on our table.  I told him what it was and that it was the best kishka ever, and we all struck up a conversation.  He told us he was from Brooklyn and that he was a crook.  Very funny.  His gal pal didn't seem anything like him - reserved and didn't open her mouth, but he said they'd been together twenty years.  We talked about Brooklyn, we talked delis, then he ordered a lot of the stuff we did.  At the end of the meal, we said goodbye to him and told him how much we enjoyed the banter.  Barry's friend and I went up to pay our portion of the bill, and when Barry joined us he told us he'd found out the guy's name.  And, the guy telling us he was a "crook" turned out to be not so far-fetched.  Let's just say that this guy's family was one of the biggest crime families ever, and clearly one of the models for the Sopranos, which he talked about lovingly, BTW (by the way, in Internet lingo).  I wish I'd gotten his card - there are a few people I'd like him to have a conversation with :)

Well, Bruce, why didn't you tell me? I met a similar sort when I was down in Florida last month. And I DID get his name.  ;)

(Maybe I shouldn't joke about this!)

DVD for tonight is one I know nothing about it - a mini-series co-production between BBC and HBO called Five Days.  It sounds like the Dutch film The Vanishing, but I like this type of story so I'll give it a shot.  Anyone seen it or heard of it?

Not me. I've never heard of it.

Ginny, which row are you sitting in?

Note re the elevator, only because of your foot:  It's a lovely lovely theater space, but theater B is on the third floor (two floors up from street level).  Until the house opens, they will only let you up to the bar area one flight up, but if you wait until the house opens (usually 8:05-8:10 for the 8:15 show), then the elevator will take you all the way up to the theatre B level two flights up on the third floor

If you're on the aisle (the most center seats 2,4,6 or 1,3,5) you may want to wait until the rest of your row is seated before sitting, to avoid having to let people pass you and avoid the very minimal risk of people stepping on your  foot.

DR FJL - thanks for all this info.  We're in the Right Orchestra, Row B, Seats 2 & 4.

We will be attending Evening Prayer (6-6:20) at St. Mary's on 46th St., having a light supper, and then taking a taxi over to 59E59.  I'm glad for the 8:15 start time

Richard and I are in for the night after a lovely dinner with our friends Doug & Jon at Cara Mia on 9th Ave.  On our walk back home, we "just happened" to pass Amy's Bread, where we bought some baked goods for tomorrow's breakfast.

Five Days is great so far.  I only hope they keep the level of greatness up in the final three episodes.  Actually, I'm assuming there are five episodes since it's called Five Days.  I'm on number three, which is the end of the first disc.

Ginny - That sounds great.  You're 3rd row, on the aisle running down the center.

I'm pretty sure I'll be in row F, also on the center aisle.

There shouldn't be that many now - the Image DVD is, I think, OOP.  If you want the best copy, it's the one in the Bava box set - I don't remember if they ever put out that version as a stand alone title - I'll go check.  Unfortunately, the only version that's on any of the discs is the original Eyetalian with the non-AIP American dub (done for the British release).  It's got the original Roberto Nicolosi score, which is very good.  However, the shame is that the AIP version, which has the Les Baxter score and a different English dub has never been available on DVD (it was on laserdisc).

Thank you, bk!

I've never been a fan and I've never understood her appeal. But then, I don't get "modern" pop music anyway.
