DR Jeanne, thank you for your kind thoughts & helpful suggestion. Actually, under the circumstances we are doing ok. It will just take time. Keith’s mother was ready to go, and in a certain way that makes this easier to cope with. If my friend isn’t fine I will be a mess.

Back from a great lunch at Langer's - very hard to be a good boy, diet-wise, but I think I did well. I did end up having a pastrami sandwich with russian dressing and cole slaw - happily, they don't really pile on the meat like other places, so it was a pretty reasonable sandwich, big-wise, and I had one tiny piece of kishka. The boys ordered more food than I've ever seen on a table. Soup, potato pancakes, chopped liver, the kishka, and a sandwich each. It was SO hard not to sample the potato pancakes, but I didn't.

About halfway through the meal, a couple was seated at the booth right next to us (and butted up right against our booth). The guy was a real character and was staring at the kishka on our table. I told him what it was and that it was the best kishka ever, and we all struck up a conversation. He told us he was from Brooklyn and that he was a crook. Very funny. His gal pal didn't seem anything like him - reserved and didn't open her mouth, but he said they'd been together twenty years. We talked about Brooklyn, we talked delis, then he ordered a lot of the stuff we did. At the end of the meal, we said goodbye to him and told him how much we enjoyed the banter. Barry's friend and I went up to pay our portion of the bill, and when Barry joined us he told us he'd found out the guy's name. And, the guy telling us he was a "crook" turned out to be not so far-fetched. Let's just say that this guy's family was one of the biggest crime families ever, and clearly one of the models for the Sopranos, which he talked about lovingly, BTW (by the way, in Internet lingo). I wish I'd gotten his card - there are a few people I'd like him to have a conversation with

Ginny, which row are you sitting in?

Note re the elevator, only because of your foot: It's a lovely lovely theater space, but theater B is on the third floor (two floors up from street level). Until the house opens, they will only let you up to the bar area one flight up, but if you wait until the house opens (usually 8:05-8:10 for the 8:15 show), then the elevator will take you all the way up to the theatre B level two flights up on the third floor

If you're on the aisle (the most center seats 2,4,6 or 1,3,5) you may want to wait until the rest of your row is seated before sitting, to avoid having to let people pass you and avoid the very minimal risk of people stepping on your foot.

There is a Carvel's near Keith's mother's. We did manage to find time to stop for ice cream cones-OH SO DELICIOUS! I brought home some of their chocolate chrunchies & am having a little mixed into some coffee ice cream.

If I had known Keith was going to spend the next 4 hours helping his brother set up his new computer I would have gone for a walk & purchased a Jewish corn rye & a challah. By the time we left there was only enough time to stop by the hotel to freshen up and change. Oh well, next trip.
