Please tell Mr Miller thanks very much, it is great fun to have this photo - and it will go into the book along with the autographed photo that you got for me awhile back, also from AOPP!

On the q.v. - you might ask Mr Miller to expand on his German napkin story...I have a feeling his autobiography could have required a plain brown wrapper, if he had so chosen.

Great pics, DR JOSE....and DR CILLA LIZ has some lovely kitty pics in her Facebook album.

Thanks!  And sometimes I just eat to eat, and not to photograph it!

*Although, I will say, my recent "bout" of food photography has influenced my dining choices lately.  "I know the food will taste good, but will it look good too?  And will there be enough natural light?"  ;)

And more thank yous are in order for those birthday wishes received after I left for the casino.  Thank you so much to MBarnum, Aunt Wilma, derBrucer, Edisaurus, Cillaliz, JMK, Jennifer, td (again?), and last but certainly not least Ron Pulliam.

What a wonderful group of friends I have found with which to spend my days and evenings.

Thank you, one and all.

I think I will relax for the evening and watch that classic 1956 motion picture RUNAWAY DAUGHTERS which I bought a region 2 dvd of while I was in Hollywood at Amoeba Music, BK's favorite shopping place.

DR TCB - Sounds like you had a wonderful day at the casino.

*Hmmm... I have yet to go to Atlantic City since I've been "legal" to gamble... And since the round trip busses from Port Authority leave almost hourly... Hmm...

Yet another GONE WITH THE WIND performer has shuffled off to his reward. Fred Crane, who played one of the Tarleton twins (George Reeves played the other). He died in a hospital near Atlanta at age 90 from a blood clot in his lung while being treated for diabetes.

Mike, did you ever get around to telling Fred that your name was not Steve?

Had fun tonight watching six more episodes of NCIS. There are 18 in the box, so counting the one I watched earlier today, there are 11 more to go. I should be able to finish them tomorrow, I think. I'd love it if I could.

Sorry to read about Fred Crane. That doesn't leave many GWTW alums left. He was a fine looking young man.

I had seen some of the NCIS episodes before. I guess I watched them when shows were in reruns leading up to going back to work after the writers' strike. Of the six, I think I had seen three of them.

My favorite had to do with a ghost ship which the team explores thinking there might be an airborne virus on board. Good episode with a great surprise ending.

I like NCIS, once a week.....

The cast is very ingratiating. Every character has cute quirks which make it an easy show to watch. CRIMINAL MINDS, on the other hand, is a heavier, more solemn show. I'm supposed to be getting that third season set next month for review.

I also had time to watch the one bonus feature on the second disc, a 10-minute "making of" featurette on the episode which scored the highest ratings of the season. It was called "Requium."

And after I watched "Requium," I went back and listened to the audio commentary with Mark Harmon and the writer of the episode. Started off very slowly. I thought they were just going to watch the show, but they finally started talking more consistently.

DR MattH - This may have been asked before, but...

If you happen to get a box set of a TV series that you already watched "religiously" during it's original broadcast - say, even took notes - would it be possible for you just to skim through the DVDs to get a general idea of the look of the DVDs?  -And then just watch the bonus features and extras?

I haven't figured out how to end my birthday evening (since neither td or Kerry are here).  Should I watch something light and trivial such as one of Basil Rathbone SHERLOCK HOLMES box set; or should I concentrate on something deeper, such as 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH?

Oh well, maybe I will just watch the Mariners game and then go to sleep.

Jrand, thanks for the nice comments about Scent Of Mystery.  I had so much fun writing the notes, and Doug Haverty did a wonderful job on the booklet (working with various materials I gave him, such as the original souvenir booklet).

For those who may have been on the fence about it, get it now while the gettin's good.

Back from La La's.  I tried something new rather than the usual half chicken I get.  I had a double chicken breast with carmelized onions and garlic on top, and a tiny salad with very light dressing.  The chicken breasts were very, very thin and nice-sized, but I have to believe the calorie count on the meal was well under 1500, although I'm quite full at this moment.  I'll definitely be having that again.
