Tonight on HBO-HD is I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY. I've heard nothing but awful things about this film, but I have to see it for myself. I'll record tonight and maybe watch it tomorrow.

Try for the original version (at least it has some charm)

I'm still full from the Mexican food. The strawberry margarita has worn off.

I have been buried under work since the second we returned, and I've had several hugely paying gigs just drop in my lap, which I'm not complaining about, but, oy, am I all of a sudden busy.  I'm playing a show tonight for the biggest Republican philanthropist in the great state of Oregon.  May my Heavenly Father forgive me.  ;)

And we just finished watching The Time Machine.    :D

What a coinkydink!  Going through the boxes in my garage last night, I saw (and had completely forgotten) that I had the original version of "The Time Machine" on DVD!  I didn't take it with me, but I at least know that it's there. :)

However in the spirit of Liz Renay and her autobiography, My Face for the World to See - here is the performance that won the talent show for Shelly and me LAST Saturday night about 2 a.m.

The audio is not so hot, but there you.

You can imagine what the other acts were like, if we won.

Is this site realllly slow right now?  Are others having the same problem I am - posts taking a full twenty to thirty seconds to go through?

That happens to me at home every once in a while...never at work, though.  And it only seems to happen late at night. :-\

Toby and Dylan read today's notes topic as BEGIN THE BEGGING
Which is precisely why we don't let Mikey, Bonnie, Buster or Fletcher anywhere near the computer.  They'd all be on us like a pack of hounds.

Good Evening!

So...  I ventured here and there once again today.  However, instead of heading to Shake Shack for the Cookies & Cream Frozen Custard - I've had that before - I headed down to the East Village to check out a place called "Sundaes and Cones".  A friend of mine had tipped me off to it, and once I read some of the blurbs about it, I guess I had read about it before.  In any case...

A couple of the "reviews" commented on the very austere and stark design of the place, well... I guess it is, but, to my eyes, it just looked very streamlined and clean - lots of white.  But, of course, one does not go to a place called "Sundaes and Cones" to look at the decor.

I settled on a scoop of their Guava and a scoop of their Taro Root.  Both flavors were quite yummy.  A bunch of the reviews mentioned how they featured "strange and exotic" flavors like Black Sesame, Red Bean, Taro Root, etc.  Well, I guess I was expecting some truly strange and exotic flavors since nothing in the case really shocked me.  I mean, Red Bean, Taro and Black Sesame are "traditional" Japanese and Chinese ice cream flavors, and even Green Tea ice cream is more or less mainstream now.  (Right?)  In any case...

The scoops were very generous, the flavors bright and clean, and the price very right - $4.75. :)

*Oh, I did sample their Wasabi Ice Cream... Whoa!  -Now that was a new one for me, and the sample was just enough.  If I want some spicy heat in my ice cream, I'll still to the "Wicked" Chocolate from Jean-Jacques, or the Aztec from Marie-Belle.

Jose, I wrote extensively about the first Bacharach/Trijntje CD - it's one of the best albums of the last twenty years, with superb charts mostly by Pat Williams (who also produced), conducted by the great Vince Mendoza (who also did a few arrangements), and the orchestra is wonderful.  All recorded and mixed by Al "Schmitty" Schmidt.

Well... Then I'm sure you'll love Volume II.  :)

I may have to investigate some of Traincha's other CDs - especially the Stevie Wonder covers.

Well... The opening fire sequence was filmed right across the street from me, so you'll be able to see my 'hood!  :)

*In fact, Adam Sandler and the director sat right in front of my window watching the playback.

**Alas, when we saw that the building had been cleaned up - it has been abandoned for a while - we thought someone had bought it, but then we realized it was just for the movie.  However, they did take down the scaffolding, and that helped to curb the cookouts that the homeless people would have from time to time.

What to watch - Pete Kelly's Blues?  Disturbia? (I know, I know, but everyone acts like it's some unofficial remake of Rear Window and so, while I'm sure it's absolutely terrible, I want to see how shameless it actually is.  Bobby Deerfield? (I didn't even know this was out!).  Or, The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid?  Hmmm.
