I've never taken a cat to the fireworks, on the other hand I have not found most of them to be bothered by the noise in the near distance.

Keith enjoys fireworks, just not the hassle of going to them.  When we lived in Tiburon we watched them from our balcony.  I wish we could have stayed for at least one more 4th there.

I knew what you meant.  I was just joshin' ya!    :)

No, you were making one of them allusions to a non-entendre.   ;)

Cats tend to be "all claws" during fireworks.

Well they certainly can't be "all thumbs!"    ;)

I once toured the Smithfield factory outside of Williamsburg.  It's enough to turn you vegetarian!

...And if you happen to drive a little further west or through the mountains between Richmond and Charlottesville, you can "experience" the "exhaust" from the Tyson Chicken processing plants... :-\

*Actually, a friend of mine in Richmond is one of Smithfield's quality control supervisors.

PLUS, you get a great close-up view when the neighbors shoot them straight at your roof!    :-\

That's happened before.  I'm going up to the lake for July 3rd.  They have fireworks on the lake my parents are on the 3rd and the more touristy lake on the 4th. My grandnephew and his parents and my grandniece and her parents will all be there. I haven't see DGN Sophie since last summer and haven't seen DGN Gabe since Christmas. So I'm looking forward to seeing them.  I'll come home on the 4th, probably in the evening.  I don't like to leave the girls too long when there is so much noise and smell outside from the fireworks

The movie the Crimson Kimono plot also reminded me of the great French film
Hiroshima Mon Amour directed by Alain Resnais. They were both released in 1959.

Japanese man romancing a white woman, but there was so much more to the story than that.

From Wikapedia

Hiroshima Mon Amour tells the story of a French actress (Emmanuelle Riva) who performs the role of a nurse in a film being shot in post-war Hiroshima. There she meets a Japanese man (Eiji Okada) and they become lovers. Using flashbacks intercut into the present day love story - the couple's meetings in hotel rooms, restaurants, etc. - the woman tells of her experiences during the Second World War in France, where she was involved with a young German soldier during the German occupation, and the consequences when the war came to an end.

Of course.  And the character named Murray went by "Bertha Fenation"!

Actually, I believe in the script, the proper spelling is "Bertha Venation".

If you can believe it -- with this entire County burning away -- various city councils are having meetings this week to determine "whether or not" to allow fireworks to be sold prior to and during the 4th of July.

You could make "county" state.

My parents complained to the next door neighbor who rented their lake home to those crazy idiots.  They are permanently banned from renting.  And to think the grandfather of the group was my former elementary school principal and the grandmother was my former home ec teacher.  And they were there....

What I wouldn't give for an authentic Italian pizza and a liter of house red!

-And would you drink the house red out of those wine tumblers or out of more formal glassware?

*There's a great Italian place in Richmond that has a sort of "self-service" wine system.  They keep a small selection of bottles along one wall, and if you'd like a bottle for your table, you just go up to the wall and make your selection.  -And the restaurant uses wine tumblers instead of glasses.

More than likely, but I'm only aware of local cities making such determinations, not cities in other parts of the state.

Hell, as long as it's made of "glass", I don't much care what "model" of glass it is.   :D

I believe so - hope DearReaderLaura verifies.

I'm glad the check came, DR Elmore. Perhaps you need to collect at the time of service for this singer next time.

Well... You could do what I do whenever I have to come up with charts for someone: I do not hand over the arrangement until the money is handed over to me.  It's a true exchange.

If you have a yellow fanny, that is definitely an issue.

Would that then be a case of "jaund-ass"?

I think I need to plan some din-din.  I'll be foraging through my freezer.

I hope I'm remembering correctly that I have a quart of spaghetti sauce in there.  If so, that's-a some-a spicy meat sauce!

If not, it's lasagna or a pizza, I fear.

And then....chocolate pie!   Hah-CHAH!

They must be working DR Jo's butt off down there in Florida!

Well... More or less.  I actually am having a good time working with this group, but it really does get a bit "painful" at times when we run the group numbers, and I hear the non-singers trying to sing.  -But at least they're trying.  Alas, when the music supervisor comes in next week, I have a feeling some people's jobs may be in jeopardy and/or we'll have to restructure and re-voice some of the arrangements.  *And it looks like we may be losing one of the men who actually sings tomorrow due to "contractual issues".  :-\

-I just keep having to tell myself: I did not cast them. I did not cast them.  I did not cast them.
