I've been going through a basket that I brought home from my mother-in-law's apartment last fall.  I knew it contained needlework projects and have concluded that it's mostly a pair of twin-size quilts.  The cross-stitch embroidery is about 3/4 done and all the directions are in tact.  Maybe someday I'll finish them...

The other thing I found is a typewritten sheet of instructions for knitting the "Ali McGraw Hat."  Just may have to try this one...

And now, I must shower and get dressed, then go to my sister's house to help her clean up the shed in her back yard, then she'll come to my house and help me clean up my TV room.  Until later!

I understand all the ideas being presented to me as reasons for terrible traffic - however, the one idea that hasn't been presented is WHERE DO ALL THE CARS GO, because automatically, suddenly, and swiftly, there are no more cars and instead of doing five miles an hour we're doing seventy - and I'm talking instantly not a slow build up.  The only explanation is the one I've offered as the title of today's notes.

Imagine you are part of a large crowd waiting to enter a large terminal through its only entrance, a revolving door. You stand many minutes in the line waiting your turn at the door, but once through it's clear sailing because while you were waiting in line, the crowd inside had time to disperse.

Or:

Imagine a entire hotel with each and ever tub filled to the brim, each with a dozen rubber duckies floating on top. Assume all the drains are connected to a common pipe that empties onto  the street outside.

All the patrons pull the tub plugs at once. Water starts rushing out through the pipe carrying rubber duckies lickety spit down the street. From your perspective in Room 1206, it looks like your duckies are never going to get moving - it might take an hour before it's your tub's turn to drain; but once they make it down the pipe, they're free to paddle away at top speed.

Tonight on tv for me:

Season finale of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Season finale of SMALLVILLE.

Btw, Terri Hatcher was on The View this week and she said that the last 2 minutes of the show change everything for all characters!

There have been rumors (all write them below in case anyone does not want to know).

It got warm and sunny again after I went back downstairs, but now it's starting to cloud up and we may indeed get the rain they forecasted for us.

I finally got around to the season finale of THE OFFICE.

Hilarious from beginning to end. Loved the romance with Jim and Pam (and the HUGE non-payoff).

I was sure the new HR rep was going to be on a wanted poster at the grocery store and that Toby would have to return. (And I absolutely LOVE Toby, so I hope this is just a plot device and that he'll be back.) Lots of surprises and lots of fun. I'm going to miss the show over the summer.

My schedule has been revised.  The store manager, Mike, has determined that it is not a good idea for me to go two weeks in a row without a day off, so he's insisted that I take Tuesday off.

(Monday is a major training day for me.  Sorry, I won't be scorekeeping, you'll all have to rely on der B instead.)

Truth to tell, I wouldn't mind having Tuesday as a regular day off.  Starting June 3rd, the Rehoboth Beach Farmer's Market will be running every Tuesday - it's always a good excuse for getting der B out of the house and makes for a totally different kind of vegetating.

Next, I began watching the episodes on disc 3 of THE INVADERS.

The first one I watched is one of the best in this first season set (that I've seen thus far) with Susan Strasberg and William Talman, and James Whitmore. We knew from the start that Talman was an alien but trying to decide who to trust between the other two was very challenging. Too bad that David Vincent chose the wrong one. I would have, too.

The second episode guest starred Michael Rennie and was an episode about brainwashing David to persuade him that the invaders were in his mind. Very good episode, too, though the ending was weak.

This second episode also had the audio commentary that I listened to with series creator Larry Cohen. Really rambled a bit too much about his previous career in TV (created BRANDED, CORONET BLUE, and wrote for shows like THE DEFENDERS, US STEEL HOUR, DESILU PLAYHOUSE) and didn't give nearly as much information about THE INVADERS that I'm sure fans of the show would want. But then, after he sold the idea, provided outlines for about twenty scripts, and ABC put Quinn Martin on as production supervisor, he didn't have a lot to do with the show on a day-to-day basis. Not overly complimentary about Roy Thinnes either (thought he lacked a sense of humor; um, the scripts were written that way) though he said he and Roy were friends now (not back then).

And the third episode involved a training academy for the aliens on being "more human." The guest stars were Jack Warden and Susan Oliver.

Some BAD continuity gaffes with this one. They show David's driver's license, and it has him as 5'9" with brown eyes. We all know Roy Thinnes has BLUE, BLUE eyes. Later in the same episode, they are reading from his license and say he's 5'11". Oops!
