Just be glad he doesn't charge for those audiobook readings like he does for giving speaches.  If he did, the title of the audiobook would be Taking: How I'm Making Sure I'll Never Go Hungry Again.

And Bill Clinton is the only political figure who charges for a speaking engagement?

You are quite right, DR TCB.  I thought it, but didn't post it.

DR Michael S., what extraordinary news!  This is good for you, and GREAT for the kids that will be fortunate enough to be placed in your care.   CONGRATULATIONS!  :D

I was watching the show from the DVR so it was too late to switch.  I tried turning on the subtitles and there were none...at all!  None for the entire episode.  I don't know if it's my TV, DVR or what, but none of the hi-def shows that I've watched have subtitles. :-\ Not "Lost" or "Grey's Anatomy" from last night, or any.

Wouldn't you have to turn on the subtitles (closed captioning) before you recorded the program?

MattH probably knows for sure, but I thought CC was encoded right into the broadcast signal.

No, and he's not much pricier than the know-it-all- talking heads on TV.

I stopped at the Post Office on my way home and picked up two wonderful boxes of books.  I am thrilled.

Here is a home remedy that someone told me about for clearing blocked drains.  [I thought long and hard about how to phrase that sentence, given this crowd!]  In any case, it is supposed to be less harsh than Drano or Liquid Plummer, and a lot cheaper, too.

Empty approximately 1/3 cup of baking soda into the drain, and follow that with 3/4+ cup of white vinegar.  It will fizzle and bubble.  Let sit about 10 minutes, then pour a bunch of boiling water down the drain.  Repeat as needed.

This evening, for the commute home, I entertained myself with WING singing all her greatest Andrew Lloyd-Webber hits.  The cringeworthy moments came at me, fast and furious.  I am sure drivers near me who happed to glance up wondered what on earth I was cackling about.

I have had three cell phones to date and have not bonded with any of them. I have found none of them comfortable or well-designed. I do not want more features; I want basic features that are easy to use.

PS And my fingers aren't pudgy.

Well, I didn't say they were!

Where he lives, everything west of the Hudson is considered Frontier America.

Having read this, I rushed to my local post office on my way home from work to see if I could get some..  Alas, they had no boxes of books for me or anyone.  They didn't seem to know what I was asking them for.

No, but those three Snickers candy wrappers do.

DR Jeanne - my only knowledge and contacts are in the field of corporate executive relocation, I'm afraid.

I'd second the advice other DRs have offered...go with a known, "national" firm.  Perhaps get two bids, to compare.  They'll usually come out and survey your goods for free.

We wouldn't be in this mess if the man who actually got the most popular votes in 2000 had won the presidency.

And we wouldn't be in this mess if Kerry had taken Ohio (if he actually DIDN'T take it, that is).

You weren't supposed to look when I was stuffing them surreptitiously behind the potted palm.

DR TCB, can you sit out on a balcony veranda of a lovely summer's day, watching the buff boys pass by into the park below, a cool breeze at your forehead, and a lovely libation at your side?

We wouldn't be in this mess if the man who actually got the most popular votes in 2000 had won the presidency.

But then we would be a dictatorship of the majority, and not a representative democray.

It makes your mouth look enormous!

I see today on eBay someone's selling a vocal score to THE OLD MAID AND THE THIEF.  Hmmm . . .
