Lucky BK can work at his piano!
I cannnot.
The piano tuner was here yesterday. He really likes my piano, but, unfortunately, he won't be returning to it for THREE WEEKS!
The pitch was off by a quarter step.
The hammers were (when dampered) striking more than one note.
There were remnants of mice inside the base - fortunately, though, we haven't had a mouse problem since our steel door was installed late last summer - so, it was very old evidence of mice.
He thoroughly cleaned the insides of the piano with compressed air, tore it apart, took most of the guts home with him to continue working on them.
What was supposed to have been a two house call visit - pitch adjustment and tuning - over a period of three days has blossomed into a three week, maybe more, extravaganza.
With that extravaganza, of course, the cost rose. Really rose.
Of course, since this is what I had planned for my Economic Stimulus Payment, it's alright with me.
I would rather have had the piano back to normal tomorrow and the extra dollars from the ECP, but. . .this will pay itself off in the long run.
On a very positive note, though, Mr. Tuner said that the worth of this particular Baldwin piano is well into three thousand dollars (which is FAR LESS than his tuning fee).
