Oh....Dan Fogelberg has shuffled off this mortal coil.

 :'(  Far too young.

We had the good fortune to see him in concert a few years back, out the outdoor Brit Festival in Jacksonville.

DR Sandra has a telephone solicitor on the phone -- someone doing a survey. From this end, it is quite entertaining.

Took a short drive and stopped by my new favorite restaurant in the Valley, the Kansas City barbecue - I've now eaten there four times and each time has been great.  I took a look at the list of Golden Globe nominations as I ate, and they are just as predictable as always.  Whichever studio and/or film provides them with the most money, the most access to stars, the most courting, gets nominated.  I would wager much money that most of the nominating committee (whoever they are) haven't seen Sweeney Todd, and yet nominated its stars and director, as well as the film itself.  The most amusing nomination is Across The Universe for best musical or comedy film - this over Enchantment.  I don't have to see Across The Universe to know it isn't as good as Enchantment - two or three clips were enough for me - typical Julie Taymore twaddle.  In fact, Enchantment only got two nominations (Amy Adams and one of the songs) and that tells me all I need to know about the Golden Globes.  Why anyone takes these types of awards seriously is the big mystery - it's a handful of foreign JOURNALISTS for heaven's sake - not critics, but press people.  What has that to do with giving out awards - they'd be better off giving awards for Best Interview, Best Promotion, Best Press Whores.

I, too, am being lazy.  And I'm logey from my brisket of beef sandwich (with sweet potato fries) and my side of one hot line (I just had to try it, and boy was it great).

I am thinking about getting the DVD set of Rick and Steve....

DR JRand57, since you purchased the SHAKESPEARE RETOLD set, I should mention that I found the MACBETH set in a 3-star restaurant quite interesting although I had a harder time with it than the MUCH ADO because of the accents.  The Macbeths are absolutely fascinating, as are the three witches whose transformation into an equivalent urban 21st Century scavenger is quite amazing.  It's also quite bloody but very well done.

No photo yet.

I'll have self-scan register duty on Thursday.  I'll see if we can't get der Brucer to take a pic with me wearing my Santa hat and red shirt.  The combo should be very atomic.

I guess this would be off-topic for a chat board dealing with Broadway specifically, but the late Dan Fogelberg was considered worthy of a page on the ibdb (internet Broadway Database) for the Patti LuPone concert Matters of the Heart:

A side of one hot line?  Goodness, what is that?

Is the hot line better if delivered by a Shakespearean actor rather than someone who has only done television?

Could the hot line be phoned in?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Lunch was excellent today!  (Food, Glorious FOOD!)  We had pork chops, pan fried potatoes, fresh turnip greens, black-eyed peas, cornbread, and iced tea.

Groucho:  Why?  Is it falling apart?

Thank you, FJL, for translating LCT for me.  Some of those NYC snobs assume everyone knows what it means.

This afternoon, I acquainted my mom with her new scanner/printer (she has been using the printer but has not scanned a thing).  The day after Christmas I will have to acquaint her with the Photosmart Express feature of her new scanner/printer since I am giving her a digital camera.

I also acquainted her with the "flash" drive.  She had bought herself a 2GB drive, so I showed her how to plug it in.  We took all the pictures she has saved  (TONS!) over the past four years and moved them to the drive.  We spent a goodly amount of time creating folders and moving photos into them.  She's quite excited by it all...and totally doesn't believe "she" can do it by herself.

But I'm going to make her do it by herself in a day or so, just to get her to be more hands-on.

"Feel of Dreams" - Isn't that the subtitle to my upcoming autobiography?

I thought the title was ROMAN HANDS IN THE FEEL OF DREAMS.

There's nothing much new to add.

It has been getting colder all afternoon.  The day was beauteous, but the wind made it enjoyable only from indoors.

I'm going to prepare my own supper this evening.

My mom has gone to church, and I'm using a few moments here to catch myself (and you all) up with the events of the day.

Tonight on TV...the finale of the latest edition of "Survivor" (China!).  I don't give a hoot in hell about any of the four finalists, but I have a couple I'd rather see rot in hell than win, so I'll watch and see if they lose.

Where did I get fifty million stories in the naked city?  Now that I think about it, isn't it six million stories in the naked city?  Just how many stories are there in the naked city?  And what if one person has three stories?

That would make up for Larry and Jose who can't repeat their stories.

Larry probably has a few thousand.  Jose is playing "catch-up".

Now who's the soul who posited that just because one thinks, one "is" (or, "am")?
