I am due quite a few things in the mail, but none have arrived - either that, or they arrive but the mail place gets so far behind that they don't get into my box (either the package or the notice of the package) for a day or two after they arrive.   I've tried to tell them that this is unacceptable.

I've been reading a paperback book by an interesting type named Mickey Knox, who started out as an actor and then became graylisted and then became an expatriate, living in Rome and working on many big films as dialogue director and even writer.  This book is so riddled with spelling errors, and silly mistakes it's clear no one proofed one word of it.   And it's not print on demand or self-published, although it is a smaller publisher, which just goes to show you that having a bigger publisher means nothing these days.  My guess is this book sold less than Benjamin Kritzer.

LOL

I think that Clive Owen film you mentioned the other day was released as "Croupier" in the UK and here. I've not seen it.

It was released here as "Croupier". too.

And now that I've checked back - DR Jeanne was mentioning the TV show "Chancer".  (Just one of my Senior's moments)

So the head of the department I'm working for at TLC just came in and asked if I would like to be a "preditor". I didn't like the sound of that!

She explained that it's a producer/editor/writer---and you make mo' money. I'll have to check out their programming and then maybe I'll give iy a try. She said I could work wherever I want, even at home. Since I don't care for the place I'm working today (it's near my house but a cheap system to work on) that sounds pretty good, and I would still be freelancing and could jump to the CLOSER when it's time.

The people and amenities are very nice, but I don't like the room and it's very hot and stuffy, which makes me sleepy.

UPS has several fun items "out for delivery" to me today at my work place.  I shall swing by this evening to learn the truth of it.

If I do have anything, it will be the "Harry Potter" 5-HD DVD box, the "Bourne Ultimatum" HD DVD, and the three new Disney tins.  Possibly, "Lost" Season 3 will be there, too, but I won't be holding my breath.

When I say my "ciao-ders for now-ders", I will really log off.  I won't be like Miss Karen and say goodbye three more times before actually leaving.

No.  When I go I will be gone.

Snarky enough for ya, Missy Karen?

Ciao-ders for now-ders!

Next, I put in the new Criterion release of TWO-LANE BLACKTOP. Interesting "groovy" film made right after the success of EASY RIDER. It bombed then, but it's more interesting now. Amazing that the two leading actors in one car are played by musicians James Taylor and Dennis Wilson. Warren Oates, of course, plays the rival racer in his GTO.

The late, great, Colleen Dewhurst told me that Warren Oates was one of the most charismatic and talented actors she had ever worked with on film.  She had made the first TV-movie with him entitled, AND BABY MAKES SIX, and was at that time getting ready to make the sequel with Mr. Oates.

Consider all of actors she worked with (and married), I was surprised by the comment.

CROUPIER is a different film. It's a feature film; CHANCER is a mini-series.

I'm back from rehearsal and wondering where our DR Jose is.  He called my home and left a message at 4:30, and I cannot understand a word of it.  I don't know why he didn't call my cell, but I've called him three times since I left Carnegie Hall at 4:55 to leave messages.  i doubt we're having dinner at this point so I need to worry about feeding myself now.

The concert maty be good; I think it has lots of potential and everything seems fine but my four pieces.  We'll see.

I love love love Joanna Gleason!
