In my slothful state of inertia today, I watched UNDYING MONSTER. Boy, is that one a turkey! I kept hoping the werewolf would kill the wisecracking detective and put me out of my misery. I also liked the fact that everyone in the movie was British, or seemed to be, except for the good mid-Atlantic accent of the detective from Scotland Yard.  I think I'd like to read the novel it's based on since I doubt there's any way it can be as lousy.

DR George, your package arrived today! Thank you so much.

Is that a euphemism?

And, yes, I know this is just begging for some very witty response. Just please keep in mind that I am trying not to throw up.

(I've made it my life's goal never to throw up again.)

Not witty...just...."out with the old and in with the New...all in one sitting."

I just ghad a few words with a neighbor I've never met before. He was having his yard crew blow his leaves into my yard, and the rest into the storm drain.

I would rather have him blow them into my yard than the drain, because of all the flooding we have from that creek. Plus it's bad for whatever's living in the water, too.

I was extremely polite, but this guy was completely arrogant and patronizing. I told him that my yard flooded because of the creek and he laughed and said "When? Two years ago?"

Later, when I drove by his house, I rwas reminded that it was for sale. (It's been on the market for over a year.) I also know his tiny yard floods during rain events. So I guess his attitude is that since he's leaving, he's not going to worry about doing any harm to the neighborhood.

Well, I'm glad he's leaving, too!

I would think that you could call the city and report him, Edi.  Although you certainly can't prevent leaves from going into the storm drain, I believe the city would be interested in chatting with a gentleman who is willfully stopping up the drains.

So it was four years ago today that I first saw the Grand Canyon.  I, frankly, did not care for it at all.  I don't like looking down - fear of heights, or of falling, or at least of my glasses falling off, something like that.

We had a costume judging contest at our Halloween BBQ.

I couldn't tell you what they all were (or were supposed to be) but our winner came as a slave, complete with dog collar and leash, and he was dressed all in white.

I still think Driving Towards Orion would make a great title for a book, or a play, or something.

And, inasmuch as he has already started writing said book (Two Chapters and notes for the rest) about the journey cross country with  that same name he could beat some else to the punch!

I still have fond memories of that trip, particularly trying to walk Marty, Mikey, Bonnie and Buster all at the same time.  They had a knack for intertwining their leashes in seconds - we could have rented them to a bakery to make challah!

HOOD AND RAY! REV "GOD HATS FAGS' PHELPS GETS HIS

ASSOCIATED PRESS
Quote

JURY AWARDS FATHER NEARLY $11 MILLION IN FUNERAL PROTESTERS CASEBALTIMORE

 —  The father of a fallen Marine was awarded nearly $11 million Wednesday in damages by a jury that found leaders of a fundamentalist church had invaded the family's privacy and inflicted emotional distress when they picketed the Marine's funeral.

The jury first awarded $2.9 million in compensatory damages. It returned later in the afternoon with its decision to award $6 million in punitive damages for invasion of privacy and $2 million for causing emotional distress to the Marine's father, Albert Snyder of York, Pa.

Snyder sued the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church for unspecified monetary damages after members staged a demonstration at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq.

The defense said it planned to appeal and one of the church's leaders, Shirley Phelps-Roper, said the members would continue their pickets of military funerals.

Church members believe that U.S. deaths in the war in Iraq are punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.

...

If the Dad can get a judgment to hold up he can make the Phelps' family's life a perfect (well deserved) hell for years (ask OJ). There will be a long line of gay-activist volunteers prepared to follow them wherever and paper them with liens and writs for seizure or whatever the lawyers call them).

Dear BK and Dear Readers,

The last time I threw up was exactly eight years ago today. It was also the last time I had orange juice. This is not a coincidence. When was the last time you threw up?

In 1991 or 1992.  I was living in an apartment that had a bathroom with a toilet and sink only right off the kitchen and that's where it happened.  I hope it never does again. :P

Boy, the girls were upset after our two groups of trick or treaters. They acted like they couldn't understand why company came to the door but didn't come inside and visit them.
