Hello, kidz-

I've no real time to post now, but wanted to let you all know that I'm alive and well.  When I get a chance I'll post photos from our visit to the Rockefeller estate on the Hudson Valley.  What a view!  Tonight I'm hoping to see Jason Graae's cabaret show at Birdland in NYC.  Whew!

Now - for bk's problem:

WILDLIFE CONTROL informs us:
Quote
It starts slowly. You get just a whisp in the air of something that doesn't smell so great. You notice it one second, then not the next. You wonder what's going on, then briefly forget it. Then you smell it again - "What is that?" you wonder. At first it's subtle, but give it another day or two, and it's not so subtle any more! Your house smells terrible! What is that horrifying odor? It smells like rotting meat - no, worse!

If you experience this - you suddenly end up with a horrible stench in your house, the best guess is that an animal has died somewhere inside. Most of the time, it's an animal that was living in the attic of your house. Emphasis on was. Now its life is over, and it's chosen its home, your attic, as its final resting place. However, it does not rest in peace. It rests in juices and maggots and the most horrible smell you've ever smelled. Your house smells like roadkill, and you don't want to live there.

The UNITED EXTERMINATING COMPANY offers:
Quote
How long does it take for a rat to decompose?  Actually, it depends on a lot of things.  How many are actually dead, the ambient temperatures, air change rates, etc.

You could purchase a fan to fit in the window, blowing OUT, creating a negative air pressure in the room.  This does help a bit.

If you only have one or two, you could count on a couple of weeks - if they both died at the same time.  Usually, one survives longer than the other because of cannibalization - which stretches the smell time out.

If you can tell where they are, sometimes you can open up the wall....  It's hard to tell exactly.  I usually tell people to "bite the bullet" and wait it out.

You'll get a bunch of flies later on.  Not too much you can do about that either.  Luckily, the flies only last a few days.

In otherwords - SELL NOW!

RE: Torchwood (very first episode ever).

I know a bunch of people here watch this show. Well they just started showing it here (they've aired 3 episodes and i've watched 2).

I must say i had no idea what this show was about. and the first episode was really quite interesting and surprising for me.

It is very different than anything else i watch.

But i was sort of surprised during the first show when the woman took out the claw and brought someone back to life for 2 minutes (PUSHING DAISIES).

I really like john barrowman and the english policewoman.

Yesterday, before I finished the PSYCHO films, Mum and I watched (together!) the first three episodes of PUSHING DAISIES back to back, commercial free.  Mum enjoyed it very much, and I was more impressed with it in this format than I had been when watching the premiere on commercial television.  Since it's very easy to accumulate the episodes following their airing, I'm certain that PUSHING DAISIES will become Saturday afternoon ritual in our house.

Good morning!

Another cool one but the afternoon will be warm again going into the 80s. The next five mornings don't look to be nearly as cool, but the afternoons aren't supposed to be nearly as hot either, so hopefully it wil all balance out.

I think there have been 7 TORCHWOODs which have aired (I could be wrong about that number). Weren't there 13 in the first season? Again, someone with the first season Region 2 DVD set can answer better than I.

I will watch MY NAME IS EARL while I fix and eat lunch today, but looks like the rest of the afternoon will be spent with the new Criterion release of BREATHLESS. The film itself isn't long, but there are five interviews on the first disc, and the second disc in the set I believe has more complete Godard films rather than short feaurettes, so it'll take me two days on this set, I expect.

Looking forward to the gay couple joining the fun on Wisteria Lane tonight, and, as always, BROTHERS & SISTERS is a must-see for me.

I'll give VIVA LAUGHLIN one more chance, and COLD CASE should also be on at the right time since the CBS football game is in the early afternoon this week. DEXTER is also on my line-up to watch.

I also had some time this morning to mow portions of the front yard where weeds had sprung up. We haven't had enough rain for ANY grass to grow, but weeds seem to have no trouble at all living and thriving on no water.

We don't seem to have mice out here (except for that one woman's house that we cleaned as a service project), so I guess that's a good thing about the desert.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And my parents are supposed to be arriving at Port Authority in about 5 minutes. However, since they didn't call me when they left Atlantic City, I'm not really sure now.  -And I was also expecting a call when they got off the NJ Turnpike, which should have been about 15-20 miuntes ago.  Hmm....
