TOD - I like fast food 'way more than I should.  I do try to limit portions by ordering things like the Whopper, Jr., at Burger King.  Richard and I also split an order of fries, rather than each of us eating supersizes.  We also stay away from the "value meals" to avoid feeling obligated to drink soft drinks, preferring water when we can get it.

Some guilty pleasures:

Taco Bell, Nachos Bell Grande (hold the green onions)
Wendy's Monterrey Chicken Sandwith (not always available, thank goodness)

MattH - I hope it's OK for me to print out your HOME ON THE RANGE comment and show it to Glenn, since he and his wife are expected to be here for dinner in a couple of weeks.  I think it'll mean a lot to him, especially coming from someone who is so knowledgeable about film and video.

TORCHWOOD will be recorded by me tonight for viewing later in the evening.

HAPPY FEET comes on HBO-HD tonight, but I already have it on Blu-ray disc, so I won't need to record it. I think the movie was enjoyable but a bit overrated.

Sure, and what a sweet thing to say. I very much appreciate the compliment.

Good morning, HHW.

TOD:

I'm not much of one for fast food, but if you use a loose and literal interpretation, ie, food that is served quickly, as opposed to the usual large chains, then I have a candidate.

There used to be a little place near me called CALIFORNIA WRAPS. The proprietor was from Sacramento and served up Mexican food the way I like it--California style. Fresh ingredients. Not greasy. I used to walk over there frequently and chow down on one of their juicy burritos. So good! He sold the business a year or so ago and the new owner promptly went out of business. The place that's there now has put my favorite burrito on their menu as well, but it's just not the same. You can't even taste the guacomole. The portions of the other ingredients aren't right, either, and it's just bland. A good illustration in how it's not just what you assemble, it's HOW you assemble it. I still miss my old favorite burritos.

Haircut in 50 minutes.

Sniffles and some light sneezing.

Got plenty of sleep.

I need "comfort food" in quantity.

Enjoyed "Moonlight" and "Numb3rs" last night.  I have "Ghost Whisperer" and "Stargate: Atlantis" on DVR to catch up with later (I was napping during "Ghost Whisperer").

*And I believe Betty Buckley is performing tonight as part of the cabaret festival at Town Hall.
Yes, and DR EvilTwin will be there, too.
Janet is taking the photo of herself, Betty and I to be autographed, should Ms. Buckley have the opportunity.  IIRC, Janet is attending with Mark Rupp, the photographer.

I used to love Hardees because it had a bacon cheeseburger on its menu when others did not.

Otherwise, it was the original MacDonald's Quarter-Pounder I dearly loved.

They are much small sandwiches today from the originals.  Likewise, the original "Whopper" was much larger as a sandwich.  And the traditional Whopper once had slaw on it...at least, it did on the east coast.

BK - The score to HOME ON THE RANGE was quite exciting, but got stiffed in the Oscar race that year since the film was a box office disapointment.  The lyrics to Alan Menken's music were written by the talented and by any standards fabulous Glenn Slater.   Glenn and his also gifted wife Wendy came to LAST STARFIGHTER at NYMF, by the way.

(I thought the song "Will the Sun Ever Shine Again?" sung by Bonnie Raitt in the HOME ON THE RANGE film was as good as, or better than,  any of the nominees that year.)

. . .and DR FJL, I adore you more for having said that!
Both "Will the Sun Ever Shine Again" and "Little Patch of Heaven" have been in my repertoire since the film's release, the latter has actually been in two of my cabarets. . .
AND, that Tim McGraw song over the final credits, ain't exactly chopped liver.

SIGH.

Several things "expected", probably during the next week.

I think "Cars" was better-reviewed, but folks seemed to enjoy "Happy Feet" more.  Academy voters sure did.

Everyone loves a good penguin musical!

And the word of the day is: CHREMATOPHOBIA!
Bruce V. tried to cure his CHREMATOPHOBIA by investing everything he had in a HIP HOMO CABARET.  It didn't resolve his problems with money, but it sure did find him some great boyfriends.

my kind of fast food.  last time we were in Portland Bryan took us to the row of food trucks and named the good ones.  we decided on Falafels.   watching the two people, especially the front guy, work was fascinating.  lunch was delicious and the best falafel I've had in a long time..

A question for our esteemed BK:

Will anyone be singing any of the songs from the upcoming Enchanted at the benefit?

Although, it's been a while since I've had falafel, and there's currently a sort of "falafel war" going on in NYC.  Two international chains just opened up branches around Union Square, and the buzz and reviews on both of them have been pretty good.  Hmm...

Yep! What do you want to do?

This new Offenbach album is enchanting.  What a funny composer!
