When I got back inside from mowing the grass, I settled back in with the 40th Anniversary SOUND OF MUSIC DVD for about 20 more minutes. The sound is rich and full for a 5.0 soundtrack, but during near-silent moments, I heard a low hiss on the audio track! That astonished me. Surely they could have cleaned that up and gotten rid of the hiss.

In the mail today was the Ultimate Edition of DR. NO sold apart from the rest of the James Bond set it came with and which I won in an Ebay auction for very little money (it's a two disc set).

I was THRILLED with the sparkling clean picture and the monumental DTS sound upgrade they've given this movie. Though one or two scenes had an undersaturated look to them, most of it is just beautifully realized with both picture and sound. I watched the whole movie in one sitting and could not have enjoyed it more. Compared to the laserdisc and previous DVDs of DR. NO that I've owned, this really did seem like a brand new movie.

OLD CHRISTINE had a very funny outing as CHristine attended the wedding of a male friend of hers with whom she had always had a close relationship. She agreed not to drink, but she still managed to make a mess of the wedding even while sober. Really funny stuff.

'24' had a good episode tonight as Jack risked life and limb to save former girl friend Audrey Raines. Lots of dirty dleaing going on in the background as the show draws near the end of its day (five more hours, I think).

And HEROES, of course, was riveting, exciting, and even moving in spots. So nice to have it back for its last few episodes of the season. Nice to know it's already renewed for next season.

I watched about 15 minutes of RENO 911! to close out the evening. There were some funny bits with Garcia finding out he was allergic to horses after being so thrilled about making the mounted patrol unit.

What a coinkydink! I watched the Shakespeare In The Park DREAM from 1982 that had William Hurt as Oberon and a fantastically funny Christine Baranski as Helena. I haven't seen this in years and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it.

Finished The Running Man and was just going to check out the Freud DVDR - a movie I've never managed to see - I've watched ten minutes so far and I must say I'm hooked. It's long, though, so I may not finish it tonight.

Edisaurus, i lived in Venice for several years, but not on a canal street. I would have liked to have seen it in its heyday. When I lived there it was sadly neglected. It's become quite trendy, I understand, and I recently saw an ad for a house on a canal for $3M! The canal section is near the ocean--you should be able to find it easily on a map.
