Oh, what to do, what to do.

I didn't get online this morning because, right after my alarm clock went off for the first time- at five-thirty!!! - the phone rang.  Elisa, the main accounting person at the store, needed help pronto, as the girl woman person cashier who was supposed to open this morning had called out.  Could I, would I, get in to work as quickly as possible?

I could, I would.  I grabbed a quick shower, asked der Brucer to drive me to the store, hopped into my clothes, asked der Brucer to drive me to the store, made sure I had everything I needed in my bag, went back and told der B to get up because I had to get to work (his reply? "You don't need to be there for another half hour."  No, I need to get there now!) and within another five minutes we were out the door and heading down the road.

I was very appreciated by the rest of the staff for getting there as quickly as I had.

The day sped by, with very nice customers on their very best behavior.

And I returned home in the mid-afternoon.

Now, as for my quandry -

Do I want to keep going through yesterday's posts - I haven't even approached today's yet - or do I want to take a nap?

If I take a nap, I'm sure to get a nice cuddleing with a very nice puppy or two.

Actually, that's the more attractive option!  I'll catch up later!

So did I my you tube posting make any new Gor Mkhitarian fans? Even one?

I had thought that if I posted that he resembled George Clooney, at least a few of you might be sort of curious to look at his music video....but then again maybe not.

Maybe my musical likes are just too unusual for the American masses.

There's thirty-three eps that haven't yet made it to DVD (including DR Edisaurus's work on "Squid Pro Quo")

I didn't edit that one---I did "Oat Cuisene", "Celebrity Roast" and the Halloween one about Jello (can't remember the name.) Since Alton didn't credit any of his crew back then, (maybe he still doesn't?) it's hard to know who worked on what.

Then I left the country to show THE INTERNATIONALE in England. Since I was filling in until my gardening show cranked back up, it was a graceful way to bail out of working on the rest of the season.

I'll pass your compliments on to Lucky. Greg is working on a new series with him coming up sometime soon.

A short description of the STRANGE FRUIT documentary:

In 1937, after seeing a photo depicting the lynching of a black man in the south, Bronx-born high school teacher Abel Meeropol wrote a poem entitled "Strange Fruit" that begins with the words: "Southern trees bear a strange fruit / Blood on the leaves and blood at the root." He set the poem to music and a few years later convinced Billy holiday to record it in a legendary heartbreaking performance. Intertwining jazz genealogy, biography, performance footage, and the history of lynching, director Joel Katz fashions a fascinating discovery of the lost story behind a true American classic.

There are some fascinating angles on the story that would be a real spoiler to mention. But definitely this is worth putting in the queue!

Netflix doesn't seem to have this, but it does have the "STRANGE FRUIT" that MBarnum mentioned.  That sounds interesting, also, so I've added that to my queue.

healing vibes to Edi!

I think we struck the same luck...Just now I stubbed my toe and tore the nail half off! Luckily the nail was wet so the skin did not tear off too much with it, otherwise it would have really hurt!

GOOD NEWS! GOOD NEWS! and NO SPOILERS!

Disney Annual Shareholders Meeting reveals that

The Song of the South dvd might be out.... "soon"!

Quote from a report at jimhillmedia.com:

"The only other news that might interest all you hardcore Disneyana fans out there is that the company is now revisiting its decision not to release "Song of the South" on DVD. When quizzed by Carol Koster about the current status of this 1946 Walt Disney Productions release, Iger first expressed his concerns about the film. Wondering aloud if it would actually be possible for today's audiences to put this picture in the proper context.

But Bob (while making no promises about what might happen next with this historic motion picture) then went on to say that " ... we will look at ("Song of the South") again. And Dick Cook (I.E. The Chairman of Walt Disney Studios) would be in charge of that effort.""

My DH is on his way to New Orleans today on a shoot. So in honor of that:
-----
* Disney's 2009 Animated Release 'The Frog Princess' Taps Into
Studio's Rich Fairy Tale Legacy *

NEW ORLEANS, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Walt Disney Studios will
continue its fairy tale legacy in animation by taking moviegoers on an
all-new "once upon a time" musical adventure with its 2009 release
of "The Frog Princess," it was announced today by Dick Cook, chairman
of The Walt Disney Studios, and John Lasseter, chief creative officer
for Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. A musical set in the
legendary birthplace of jazz -- New Orleans -- "The Frog Princess"
will introduce the newest Disney princess, Maddy, a young African-
American girl living amid the charming elegance and grandeur of the
fabled French Quarter. From the heart of Louisiana's mystical bayous
and the banks of the mighty Mississippi comes an unforgettable tale
of love, enchantment and discovery with a soulful singing crocodile,
voodoo spells and Cajun charm at every turn.

"The Frog Princess" is based on an original story written by Disney's
acclaimed filmmaking duo John Musker & Ron Clements ("The Little
Mermaid," "Aladdin," "Hercules"), who will also direct. Oscar(R)-
winning songwriter/composer and New Orleans native Randy Newman ("Toy
Story," "A Bug's Life," "Toy Story 2," "Monsters, Inc." and "Cars")
will write songs and the score for this project. Peter Del Vecho, a
12-year Disney animation veteran, will produce.

Commenting on the announcement from The Walt Disney Company's 2007
Annual Meeting of shareholders, Cook said, "We're pleased to be here
in the heart of New Orleans to announce 'The Frog Princess,' a great
story with all the ingredients that go into making an extraordinary
motion picture experience. Like many of Disney's most popular fairy
tales, it has elements of magic, fantasy, adventure, heart, humor,
and music. The film's New Orleans setting and strong princess
character give the film lots of excitement and texture. We're also
thrilled to have John Musker, Ron Clements and Randy Newman lending
their talents and creative energies to this project. John and Ron
helped to usher in Disney's second golden age of animation nearly two
decades ago with 'The Little Mermaid,' and are on track to create the
Studio's next great fairy tale adventure."

John Lasseter added, "Aside from being longtime friends and
colleagues, John and Ron are two of the most influential and
imaginative filmmakers in the animation medium, and I am so excited
to be working with them in bringing their creative vision for 'The
Frog Princess' to the big screen. They've come up with an original
story that is deeply rooted in the fairy tale tradition, and it's
filled with great humor, emotion, and musical moments. Randy Newman
brings fun and excitement to every project, and I couldn't think of a
better choice to deliver some wonderful New Orleans style music."

John Musker & Ron Clements have directed and produced five feature
films for Disney including "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin."
Additionally they received story and/or screenplay credits as well.
Musker began his career at Disney in 1977, after studying character
animation at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). He started
as an assistant animator and went on to animate on "The Fox and the
Hound." Clements started at Disney in the Talent Development Program,
and went on to serve a two-year apprenticeship under Disney animation
legend, Frank Thomas. He moved from in-betweener to assistant to
animator/storyman with credits on such films as "Winnie the Pooh and
Tigger Too," "The Rescuers," "Pete's Dragon," "The Fox and the
Hound," and "The Black Cauldron."

Randy Newman is a 17-time Oscar(R) nominee and winner (in 2002) for
his song, "If I Didn't Have You," from the Disney/Pixar
film, "Monsters, Inc." Among his many achievements, he has
contributed songs and musical scores for such other Pixar animated
features as "Toy Story," "A Bug's Life," "Toy Story 2," "Monsters,
Inc." and "Cars." Newman's impressive list of film credits also
includes scores for "Ragtime," "The Natural," "Parenthood,"
"Awakenings," and "Pleasantville." He was inducted into the
Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002, and his other career milestones
include three Grammy Awards, an Emmy, the first Henry Mancini Award
for Lifetime Achievement, and an Annie Award.

From
jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hil...er-meeting.aspx
again!

"Of course, there was another reason that Mouse House officials wanted to hold this year's annual meeting down in New Orleans. And that was to officially announce that "The Frog Princess" (I.E. WDFA's official return to traditional animation) would be set in New Orleans of the 1920s. And to celebrate this special occasion, John Lasseter introduced Academy Award-winner Randy Newman and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Who then played "Down in New Orleans" (I.E. One of the many songs that Newman has written for "The Frog Princess") as slides of preproduction art for this new John Musker & Ron Clements movie played on a screen directly above the band.

Given that this was the first public performance of a number from this still-in-preproduction motion picture, "Down in New Orleans" was greeted with very enthusiastic applause. The smallish crowd in the auditorium also roared its approval when John Lasseter revealed that Maddy (I.E. The title character in "The Frog Princess") would be the first-ever African-American Disney Princess."
