DR Jose will be sneaking me into the auditions on Saturday. I can't wait!!

No need to sneak you in actually.  The head of SETCs went ahead and set you up with a Badge/Pass for the Convention.  -This way you could come and go as you please/need.  -And this way I wouldn't have to escort you in and out of the audition room.  So...  *And I believe with the Badge/Pass you'll have access to the Exhibit Hall (lots of free stuff!), the convention workshops, and even the keynote speakers, if you so desire - and had the time.

*Just keep in mind, they prefer that people only leave the audtion room - well, ballroom - between each group of 25 auditionees.  So, you'll be "stuck" in there for at least 45-50 minutes.  ;)

Today on TCM is the last day of "31 Days of Oscar". Today they are focusing on editing, and all the films are nominees or winners in the editing category.

Currently: THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.

It's fun to see it again after doing promos for the new one a few weeks ago.

Just got through doing a lovelier than lovely one hour interview with an author who's doing a book about people who guest-starred on lots of shows.  And I'm happy to say I was at the top of his list, because I did all his favorites.  I gave him tons of great stories and it was really fun.

Will we never get to page six?

Maybe if we talked about PennyO's porno tastes:

LB PressTelegram

Quote
Partial nudity and simulated sex distract from wagner masterpiece
By John Farrell, Special to the Press-Telegram

WAGNER NEVER quite finished with his opera "Tannhauser."

It exists in several versions, and he was planning to return to it again, to perfect it, shortly before his death.

There are many who believe that it didn't need fixing. It begins with one of the composer's most celebrated, and powerful, overtures, and the philosophical terrain it explores - the clash between profane and pure love - was to become Wagner's central theme through almost all his operas.

That clash can hardly ever have been more profoundly, and more shockingly, expressed than in the new version of "Tannhauser" that opened Saturday night at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. It is the company's first production of the opera.

Sex - profane love if you are writing a textbook - has always been a part of opera, its driving dramatic force. It was expressed figuratively in early operas and more forthrightly in later ones. Now, in the 21st century, seeing the sex act itself on stage is hardly a surprise.

As audiences have become more adult, directors have decided to get their lovers into bed, naked and in compromising positions, more and more often. (It must be admitted, though, that there is still some squeamishness. It is only the young, slim and physically alluring who undress. The opera world is still not ready for sex between mature, and heavier, stars.)

Los Angeles Opera's "Tannhauser" is what is called the Paris version, where the overture is blended into the first act and there is a longer, originally balletic, bacchanal. Parisian audiences insisted on this. Those who prefer the wonderful original overture may object, but the idea works dramatically.

Instead of dance, though, director Ian Judge has decided to create, unambiguously, the sexual frenzy that Wagner's music implies. The stage, lit bright red, features Venus (Lioba Braun) and Tannhauser (Peter Seiffert) and about two dozen dancers, the men in red tailcoats, the women in red ball gowns.

Before long a lot of undressing starts and everyone, except Venus and Tannhauser, is naked (save for G-strings and discreetly hidden red shorts), with couples locked in athletic sexual positions. Male-on-male sex was also part of the eight to 10 acts of coupling proceeding all at once. The only persons who heard Venus' singing in the scene were listening with their eyes closed.

...

For today's topic, I don't do camping.  The last time I went camping I was 15 (after the earth had cooled).  I didn't want to be with my family, so I slept in the van  and read the biographies of Jean Harlow and Rudolph Valentino by flashlight and Colemena lantern.  I like walking in the woods and exploring but not the rest.  Who knows, I might have liked it more if I'd been with someone other than my family.  But at 15 they were the last people I wanted to be with 24 hours a day for 2 weeks!

Hello, DR KERRY!
I quite like your anti-camping story of you curled up in the van, reading about Harlow and Valentino by flashlight and lantern. Thanks for the telling.

Back from a jog.  Difficult, of course, but managed the full distance.  It helps to have a book on my mind and also that it's a beautifully beautiful day.

I used to camp with my parents and have done it once or twice as an adult, but it always strikes me as so much WORK! I'd rather just do a day hike and not have to lug a lot of stuff around.

Homicidal is one of my favorite William Castle "movies" - I can't quite call his creations "films" - and it also has Glenn Corbett and Richard Rust.

Jean Arless has the tiniest waist EVER in the movies - and while I didn't have it figured out by the end - i knew something wasn't right with Warren....something was pretty creepy about that guy...AND his new wife.
