Indeed Jose.  Marzipan in OZ differs from Almond Icing and would rarely be used as the "base" for "royal icing". Marzipan would be too expensive!!  Marzipan is often used as a "decoration" in the form of miniature fruits etc.

Speaking of royal icing, they're expecting windchills of under zero for tomorrow morning in NYC.

Trying to come up with a Walter Windchill pun, but I'm freezing up on that.

My feeling about all this:  If it FEELS like 5 below zero, it IS 5 below zero.

Back from another absolutely spectacular meal at Ruth's Chris, with the always delightful MusicGuy.  We had a lovely time, with much fun and good conversation.  Lauren was there, not our waitress but she hung out with us as much as she could.  We both had the New York in sizzling butter, we both had salads (mine with the yummilicious thousand island, his with blue cheese - the secret of what makes their thousand island so great is chopped up eggs in the dressing), and we shared two sides - the asparagus with hollandaise and corn pudding - the latter was unbelievably tasty.  Then, for dessert, we split a creme brulee with tons of whipped cream.  A fabulously fabulous evening, and now I must sit on my couch like so much fish.

New York could use a dip in sizzling butter right now.  It's frigid cold out.

Isn't this fun?  We have this many postings on a Sunday and that horrid Grease show is in reruns and not even being discussed.

My mother is watching Grease Academy...I told her that Juliana was in it (she hadn't even thought the series had started yet) and now she is "just checking it out".

She keeps yelling in at me who she likes and what she thinks about so and so.

whatever...

I have tried the cake suet but when I hang them from trees, raccoons steal the feeders! They are smart little devils! They know how to operate a cat door, too.

On my last trip into the marsh I recovered four wire suet feeders and one large cedar suet feeder! If instead of operating cat doors, they'd learn to operate cat houses, they could afford to buy their own suet!

That sounds almost warm...

It is -16 here with a -25 windchill... Your -5 sounds almost tropical.

My dad loves to feed the birds... Their yard has at least 6 feeders. It is nice when I go up to their place and I can sit near the window with a cup of tea and watch the birds come to the feeders. I have seen many different birds and I was pleasantly surprised to see a blue jay once.

I discovered the new library branch near me had some neat cds....

A little Night music...
Man of La Mancha
Minnesota (an orchestral piece)
Monsoon Wedding....
and a couple of cds by BOND

I think Mbarnum would enjoy the soundtrack to Monsoon WEdding.

I need to do some work on my puter tonight and I think A Little Night Music would be a delightful treat...

DBF Jon is taking to Follies  for Valentines.  It is a show featuring a number of Sondheim pieces...

Has anyone ever seen or heard a good recording of Cole Porters "Anything Goes" ? I saw it once in college and I have been looking for the musical on CD. It had some nice tunes

Such a fruit cake is the traditional cake here at Christmas and for Weddings.

I married into a Southern family and found to my delight that the bride had her sticky-sicky white cake, but  there was also a Groom's cake - good old brandy soaked dark fruit-cake (too bad I was supposed to share).

I think the library's classification systems of cds is a bit wonky....

They have the  Sondheim musical listed as popular...  I am scratching my head on that one...

Today, my sister and I went to my storage unit and got at least a third (but not nearly half) of the boxes and brought them to my house.  Most were put in my living room because my garage is damp.  The storage unit is unheated and a little damp also, but not as damp as my garage. :P So, I figure that if I empty out my extra bedroom (bring all that stuff downstairs) and get what's left out of the storage unit, I can put up shelves in the extra bedroom, go through all the boxes and get rid of stuff that I need to get rid of and keep only what I really want to keep.

Of course, I've been saying that for years (that's not a comment on BK's latest post :)), but now that I KNOW that I'm probably never going to move again (unless I win the lottery), it's going to be necessary that I actually do something with all of this.  I just don't have enough room for it all...and I KNOW that I don't need nor want to keep it all.  I MUST GET RID OF STUFF!  I HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF!  And my sister's going to have a garage sale, so I might as well see if I can make a little bit of money, also. ;)
