I began my afternoon viewing with THE NEXT BEST THING. Despite Madonna's astonishing non-performance, I still find much of the film involving. And many in the supporting cast went on to have flourishing careers of their own: Neil Patrick Harris, Mark Valley, Michael Vartan. I didn't remember any of them even being in the movie.

Ginny-All of my discussion group enjoyed THE HIGHEST TIDE by Jim Lynch.

I need to choose a book for May, any suggestions for a great discussion book?  It really is time for us to read a classic but my brother highly recommends THE KING OF LIES by John Hart.  Have you, or any DR’s read this book?

Bruce-Just when I’m thinking I will have time to read more than my required book for my monthly group, I have to concentrate on finding a book for May, then I will be able to read HOW TO WRITE……

I had been itching to watch a musical all weekend, and while I almost chose THE HARVEY GIRLS, I picked SINGIN' IN THE RAIN instead just to luxuriate in that magnificent Technicolor. Yes, HARVEY GIRLS has Technicolor, too, but not cleaned up using Ultra-Resolution.

FInished the afternoon watching Thursday night's SUPERNATURAL. An interesting premise in what appeared to be an avenging angel selecting mortals to do its bidding. Great interaction between the two brothers this week.

They changed it!  Originally, "Temp worker" was shown as her occupation and under "Training," it said "Acting: 4 months"!!

::)

I went to the site and there is an Danny wannabe who was on Days Of Our Lives.

I Guess saying you played Millie in the Touring Company of Thoroughly Modern Millie and recorded several albums for BK would put you at a disadvantage.

She is the rocker chick Sandy as says her nickmane.

I also see she has dropped the A and/or Ashley from her name,

I do have those video cliips and photos from the recording session of Jeepers Creepers, I wonder how much she will pay me for those not to be sent to the producers of the show> ;D :) ::)

I wish I had some marzipan from Bruno's bakery.

Tomovoz, I believe Ben said the cake had both marzipan and frosting.  I took that to mean the hard frosing my mother encased the cake with.

Yep Hard frosting would be the usual for such a cake DR Jane. Underneath would be a thick layer of Almond (paste) icing. We would not use the term "Marzipan" for the icing here in OZ - but it is much the same thing.

Such a fruit cake is the traditional cake here at Christmas and for Weddings.

Heading down to get the bathroom cleaning out of the way to make sure I have time for BEN-HUR's silent version. I know it's only half as long as the 1959 remake, but I still want to make sure I have the time to enjoy it and stop if I need to for phone calls, calls of nature, etc.

My group just read The Glass Castle, a memoir, and found a lot to talk about.  It's the Big Read 2007 selection for the Dayton area and we're looking forward to meeting the author when she comes to town the last weekend in March.  We also liked The Memory Keeper's Daughter.  Now, we're reading Mozart's Women, a suggestion from DR Elmore that may be of interest both to you and DR Jeanne, for her independent music appreciation endeavor.

Good afternoon!!!

2001 -boring
Superbowl - not interested (I have won lots of $$ on it in the past, but I don't even have enough interest to bet on it this year)
Grease - Thank you, no

I will most likely be packing things up in the dining room.  I emptied boxes in there and now the things I really don't know what to do with are still on the dining room table. So, I will pack it all up and take it to the basement for storage.

DR Nursie, DR Ginny's group is reading this now, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.  Much as I enjoyed AMADEUS, this puts to rest a lot of the play's fantasies and presents a wonderful picture of some interesting ladies in his life and on his stage.

I had a wonderful day. I took my 2 Sunday papers to IHOP where I had french toast, bacon and an egg. Then I went out scouting prices on computers, supplies and office equipment to see what's available these days and where the best place to get it will be.  I know it's a nerdy thing to do, but I loved every minute of it.

DR Jeanne, I'm going to post a couple of books you might enjoy.

Ethan Mordden is a pig, in my book, but some of his writing, when he verifies his facts, can be good, and this isn't bad.  He's a wonderful pianist and knows his classical music.
