I had to go meet someone briefly - did a little DVD trading, and got a bunch of about-to-be-released titles, including Looker (which I'm watching now - oy), The Arrangement (Kazan - Elia, not Lainie), Band of Angels, Performance, Ginger and Fred (Fellini - not Astaire and Rogers), and The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner.

Would some Murphy or other like to elucidate on where the name Cason came from (The Internet is vague and contradictory - variant of Jason, Greek name meaning Ardent, etc)

Most have probably figured out the record that we will definitely break by Wednesday - the highest posting month in this site's history. Not sure it will happen today, but you never know. Hits, however, is another story - it's fascinating that we will have our highest posting month, but not have our highest "hits" month - although, that said, I suppose we might get close and might even best that record, too.

Neither Target, Walmart, nor Best Buy carried DON'T KNOCK THE TWIST / TWIST AROUND THE CLOCK at store level...only on their websites or at stores NOT in Salem.

I don't remember it being a ratings hit at all, and the way ABC moved it around its schedule during its relatively short run, I don't think it ever had a chance to grab an audience for any sustained length of time.

I just looked up the ratings for the two seasons that ANGIE spanned. It didn't land in the top 30 during either of those two years.

It's my maiden name -- so he's named after my dad (who was the last male Cason on that branch of the family tree). The family story has it that 3 brothers came to the Carolinas (which all Casons in the US supposedly sprang from) -- North or South is in debate -- (although my G-Gdad was from S. C.) to escape the Huguenot persecution in France. Further study has shown that the surname Cason originated in England -- deriving from folks from the town of Cawston in county Norfolk -- Carson also is bastardization of it (of course, the Carsons say it's the other way around). Cason dates back to about the 17th century. It has also been spelled Casen or Casson -- but a true Cason spells the right way -- Cason.

Good Afternoon!

Well, I guess it was a good decision that I changed around my moving schedule this past week, otherwise, I would have missed my father's birthday party/lunch today that my mother arranged. -His birthday is later in the week, but she held the gathering today. We all gathered at their favorite Chinese restaurant where we feasted on Peking Duck and whatever food they had on the buffet. My brother, Mike, was the only other son able to make it today, but he also brought his kids - my nieces and nephew - with him, so I was also able to get in some "Uncle Jojo" time today too.

The majority of the guests were friends of my parents, lots of uncles and aunts. *Of course, since we're Filipino, they weren't my "real" uncles and aunts - once the mothers become friends, the kids automatically become related. I've literally known some of these uncles and aunts my whole life. It was good seeing them again, and I also finally got to meet one my uncle's new wife.

*And to make me feel "old", one of my aunts informed me that here grandson is now a freshman. In college. How time flies!

And, yes, there was cake. They got a cheesecake from one of the "legendary" bakeries in the area, Pastries By Randolph. It was a cheesecake, but it was no ordinary cheesecake. It had a graham cracker crust, and it was also topped with a thin layer of sponge cake. And the sponge cake layer was topped with fresh fruit and glazed. And surrounding the cake was a ring of lady fingers; when the cake first came out of the box, I thought it was a Charlotte of some sort. YUM!

And the restaurant threw is three large "goblets" of oranger sherbet.
