And now, (with the help of Dino at the piano), I must dash and get cleaned up for a little volunteer work I'm doing this morning!

I shall check back in here later -- oh yes, I shall check back in!

And the word of the day is: ALACRITY!
Casey would waltz
With a strawberry blonde
And the band played with ALACRITY
(or, if they were Swedish, with hurtighet).

(In Portugese, it would be with vivacidade.)

(In Germany, it's die Bereitwilligkeit.)

(The Turkish say isteklilik, which sounds like they need a handkerchief.)

TOD: I've got a million of 'em, and I'm sure everyone else does, too, but I've had so little sleep I can't think of them right now. But---

"Do do that voodoo that you do so well" springs to mind.
"You fill me with inertia".
"Unpack your adjectives" (a line from schoolhouse rock I ise when my writer/producers are stuck).
"Everything is satisfactual"
"We need a little Christmas" (except Christmas is usually substituted for something like "cat food")
"Makin' a dollar a minute!" (from Johnny Mercer's version of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah)

Good Morning!

Well... Since I had to get up early this morning, at least it was "nice" knowing that the property manager also had to get up early too.  Well, I had to call her once the boiler/radiator guy got here so that he could have access to the basement/boiler room.  Of course, the first time I called her, it went to voicemail.  So then I texted her.  A few minutes later...ring... "I'm sending Sammy (the handyman) over to let them in."

...And they just replaced the valve, and now they're heading back down to the basement to turn the boiler back on...

...And I suspect that I'm going to head back to bed for a bit once they've gone their merry way.  I need just a touch more sleep.

Damn!  The left lens just fell out of my glasses so I have to make a trek to my lens place on 72nd Street before heading downtown.  Ugh.  I hope it's open this morning.

I am planning to spend as much as this weekend as I can reconstructing www.brucekimmel.com.
I had a major crash and lost the whole site. I was able to reconstruct some page and retrieve many from an archival site, but this AM I am unable to get into the archival site. I hope I will be able to get at it later today.

DR elmore - I prefer the quartet version of the Brahms' too.  When I was in college, a couple members of the voice faculty fomed "The Richmond Vocal Arts Society" - which was basically Richmond's version of New York's Festival of Song, Steven Blier's group.  They always had wonderfully programmed programs, and the Brahms - both the Zigeunerlieder and the Liebeslieder Waltzes - were staples of their repertoire.

-I'll have to Czech ;) which recording(s) of the Gypsy Songs I have in my library - which will be up here in a few days!

LIGHT THE FLAMING ZERO!!![/color]

Don't you just hate that actress?  I can't figure which of her commercials is worse: the flaming zero or the standup comic.  She's probably a lovely lady and doing just what the idiot sponsor wants.

On another gripe: the morons at Broadwayworld.com are bitching at Juliana Hansen because she  hasn't revealed to the viewers of "You're the One That I Want" that she's more than an office worker.  As if NBC isn't controlling everything we know about the contestants.  Half of those members are complete morons.  The rest of us are only half moron.

Re: Victoria Day.  Yes it is still celebrated in Canada. Although not on the May 24th date that DR Tomovoz indicated. I think it's always the 3rd monday in may.

Must be something going around. My editing system crashed to, and I lost the last hour of Brain edits and was too tired to try to recreate. The post house owner is there this morning so I go into Atlanta and try to do a little more work this weekend. (Tomorrow is my DH's 50th!)

OH!  Catching up from last week...

DR Adriana Patti - RE: Hugh Panaro - He really is such a great guy, and, I agree, his Phantom is one of the best - I like Howard McGillin's interpretation too.  I've worked with Hugh a few times, and I hope to work with him again sooner rather than later.  And hopefully in a show that will run longer than eight weeks on Broadway.  ;)

TOD: I told my DH DR Jose's story about shouting "Shipoopi" at the end of other musical numbers, and he has adopted that habit when he hears the end of a big production on the radio. It always makes me laugh.

I also sometimes say "The shipoopi is about to hit the fan".

On a quasi-related note... I still remember a "phase" I went through where I would just randomly exclaim, "Chinco!"  I have no idea where it came from, why I started doing it, why I would continue to do it, and why it just stopped being a part of my vocabulary one day.  As the Amish would say - at least in Plain and Fancy - It wonders me.

During She Loves Me, I would give myself the giggles during the final scene when everyone is saying goodbye.  When it came time for Mr. Maraczek and Arpad to leave:

"Arpad... Do you like Gladiator movies?"
